Premise Health is seeking a part time Psychiatrist for our employer based direct care clinic located in Sunnyvale, CA.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Psychiatrist will be responsible for clinical oversight and health center consultation regarding administration of behavioral health policy and procedure regarding the delivery of on-site health services. This individual will promote optimum health, prevents illness and injury, and manages acute and chronic behavioral health problems in the direct healthcare model. This individual will also evaluate clients for mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders and diagnose disorders, including nature and extent. Will use clinical judgment in prescribing pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments.
The Psychiatrist will facilitate members and their dependents in identifying and resolving personal issues of a psychiatric nature including but not limited to substance abuse, behavioral health disorders, crises, and others outlined in the scope of work. This individual will minimize barriers to behavioral healthcare, and assist the clinical team in member engagement, changing behavior, and improving health outcomes. The Psychiatrist will also be responsible for effectively utilizing provider resources and member/company health and welfare benefits in the most efficient and cost-effective manner to facilitate improved psychiatric health.
Essential Functions:
- Performs examinations and care measures for patient population covered by the client contract and within prescribed guidelines the providers’ scope of practice.
- Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients’ clinical problems and health care needs.
- Records physical findings, and formulates plan and prognosis, based on patient’s condition in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Collaborates with/refers to medical providers, behavioral health professionals, and other health professionals to deliver comprehensive patient care plan as necessary.
- Provides medication initiation, titration, and management for members as appropriate as part of the care team.
- Refers patients to specialized health resources for treatment as indicated.
- Interacts with members to assist in gaining insight, defining goals, and planning action to achieve effective personal, social, educational, and vocational development and adjustment.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of treatment services provided to the client.
- Develops and delivers in-service training for primary care-based providers and staff regarding recognition and treatment of behavioral health conditions in primary care.
- Keeps case load as required and ensures case documentation is up-to-date and reflective of services while striving to maintain access for members needing care.
- Establishes and maintains a relationship of mutual respect, acceptance, and trust with members, health center colleagues, and client community.
- In addition to case consultation and member medication management, this role may provide individual counseling as needed or for individuals requiring a higher level of care when appropriate to the site contract/scope of work.
- May require other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Medical Degree
- MD or DO with unrestricted license in the State providing care or supervision/collaborative practice agreements.
- Board certification from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) appropriate for the population served (i.e., adult, adolescent, or pediatric patients).
- State Prescriptive Authority (if applicable)
- Federal DEA license (matching each state of practice as applicable)
- State Narcotic/Controlled Substance license if required in your state (Alabama, Connecticut, DC, Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Utah, Wyoming, Puerto Rico) (New York ROPES registration)
- CPR (BLS for the Healthcare Provider/Professional Rescuer or ACLS-the copy must include the front and back of card as applicable) Certification must include “hands on” evaluation of skills by the trainer/instructor. Total on-line courses will not be accepted. Course must also meet the American Heart Association (AHA) standards but need not be an AHA certificate.
- Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS – care) certification must be obtained within 12 months of hire.
Experience:
- At least three years of post-residency clinical experience as a psychiatrist in an ambulatory care, occupational health, family practice, or emergency department setting.
- Must have prior experience in the field of treatment of behavioral mental health including depression, mood disorders, alcoholism and drug dependency, family counseling, marital relationship, grief, loss, etc.
- Must have prior experience collaborating in an integrated behavioral health setting.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting.
- Training skills a plus.
- Excellent communication skills
- Positive, flexible, and solution-focused attitude
- Ability to quickly synthesize medical and psychiatric data and formulate effective and evidence-based clinical recommendations.
- Strong computer skills with knowledge of Internet software, Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
- Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records preferred.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety concepts and OSHA regulations preferred.
For individuals living in California only, Premise Health is required to include an estimate of the salary and benefits for this role. While a number of factors influence salary, our estimated California compensation for part time is $230000-235000.
