The Department of Corrections, State Correctional Institution at Phoenix is seeking a highly motivated Drug & Alcohol Treatment Specialist 2. Be part of lasting, positive change with us!
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position provides professional care, treatment, and rehabilitation of individuals with drug or alcohol substance abuse or dependence problems. You will plan Alcohol and other Drugs (AOD) services, implement planned treatment activities, and provide orientation to new inmates regarding services offered by the AOD Department. This includes interviewing inmates and reviewing their records during their initial reception, providing individual counseling on an as needed basis to assist inmates in overcoming their anxieties, obtaining their cooperation in the continuance of their AOD treatment services, and discussing any other issues related to their ongoing recovery. You will also prepare case summaries when requested for parole/pre-release processing regarding inmate’s recommendations, participation, and progress. Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year of experience as a Drug and Alcohol Treatment Specialist 1; or
Two years of professional experience providing drug and alcohol counseling services directly to clients in a social work setting; and a bachelor's degree that includes 18 credits in the behavioral sciences; or
One year of para-professional and one year of professional experience providing drug and alcohol counseling services directly to clients in a social work setting; and certification by the PA Chemical Abuse Certification Board as a "Certified Addictions Counselor"; or
One year of professional experience providing drug and alcohol counseling services directly to clients in a social work setting and a master's degree with major coursework in addictions science, psychology or social work; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 18 college credits in the behavioral sciences.
Other Requirements:
Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

You must be able to perform essential job functions.
