Summary: The Manager of Experiential Learning at Temple University Ambler Campus will oversee all aspects of recreation and wellness programming, outdoo... more detailsr experiential education, and engagement activities for a variety of populations that include Temple faculty, staff and students, summer and pre-college youth, non-credit students, external professional networks, and community members. This role involves collaborating with Temple Ambler Arboretum, Ambler Field Station, and various university departments at both Main and Ambler Campuses as well as community organizations to develop innovative programs aimed at fostering leadership, team building, wellness, and educational development among participants. The manager will serve as the liaison for Temple University Campus Recreation, Kinesiology Physical Activity Program (KPAP), Temple University Athletics, and the Wellness Resource Center fostering collaboration and communication among related departments and promoting academic uses of the campus facilities and will serve on related committees. This position reports to and works closely with the Deputy Director to forge and maintain academic partnerships with departments including the School of Sport, Tourism, and Hospitality Management (STHM), College of Public Health (CPH), and the Honors Program. Additionally, the role collaborates with other departments, such as Student Affairs, to develop student engagement, wellness, and leadership programs that optimize the Ambler Campus facilities and programs, promoting experiential learning opportunities for Temple students. The Manager will be primarily responsible for the Ambler Low Ropes Challenge Course and will develop and provide adventure-based and/or leadership-based experiences on the course for internal and external audiences. This will include developing and adhering to policies and procedures; regular internal/external inspections; maintenance and renewal of course elements; program/course evaluation; and oversight of programmatic accreditations, as appropriate. They must have and maintain current training and certifications necessary to serve in this role. They will be responsible for recruiting, training, and supervising Challenge Course facilitators. The Manager works with the University College Marketing Department on all communication and outreach regarding the Ambler Campus outdoor wellness and recreation programs and facilities including email updates, website information and social media. Additionally, the Manager will establish and maintain contact with the outdoor recreation community to promote campus offerings. Must be able to work varying hours, including early mornings, some evenings, and some weekends. Performs other duties as assigned. Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years of experience working as a lead challenge course facilitator, or related experience in experiential outdoor wellness. Must have current standard CPR/ AED and First Aid Certification or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire. Must have a valid driver's license. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
