Job Description:
Position supports Space Exploration SLS programs highly sensitive Turbo Machinery details and assemblies. The successful Manufacturing Engineer will contribute as a member of a product operations team member, providing technical expertise in production processes, procedures, manufacturing work instructions capturing both detailed component fabrication and assemblies. Manufacturing Engineers also support production through monitoring and evaluating existing operations for opportunities to improve efficiency.
Position is responsible for support to Aerojet Rocketdyne’s (AR) Operations Engineering organization. Candidate will operate from the Los Angeles (Canoga Park) office.
Essential Functions:
- Approval of engineering design documents ready for release by analyzing producibility, GD&T, processes, tools required, fixtures, etc. fabricate the specified product.
- Develop and prepare work instructions, control plans and process validation plans.
- Analyze manufacturing production problems and implement corrective actions involving designs, materials, and processes.
- Provide technical expertise in a team environment related to manufacturing
- Incorporate new methods and processes to improve existing operations
- Interface with suppliers/vendors supporting/applying technical recommendations, problem solving, corrective actions etc.
- Prepare electronic reports and white papers summarizing information or trends related to manufacturing performance
- Conduct capacity analyses, capability studies, and gage repeatability and reproducibility studies
- Actively participate in Material Review Board (MRB) investigations
- Prepare tooling cost and engineering labor estimates for proposal responses
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline plus a minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience or Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience, must have completed High School.
- 5 years or more of work experience related to the fabrication or assembly of close tolerance pressurized assemblies.
- 10 years or more of proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel)
- Experience with pressing, staking, swaging, CNC machining, plating, NDT, welding and assembly.
- Preffered experience in the aerospace industry
- Preferred experience with AS9100, and ANSI Y14.5
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $112,000 - $208,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
