ROLE OVERVIEW AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Goldman Sachs seeks a bank regulatory attorney to join the Bank Regulatory and Deposits Legal team, which supports the firm globally from a U.S. bank regulatory perspective and advises our U.S. deposits businesses. The attorney will have the opportunity to engage stakeholders across the firm on a variety of bank regulatory issues and will, among other responsibilities:
- provide legal, regulatory, and reputational advice to businesses worldwide on U.S. bank regulatory matters;
- support management of the firm’s U.S. bank subsidiary in understanding and meeting regulatory obligations;
- prepare and manage regulatory applications and advise businesses and control functions on regulatory reporting requirements;
- review and uplift firm policies relating to banking laws;
- monitor regulatory developments, including proposed regulations and legislation and court decisions, evaluate impact on businesses, and provide updates and education to internal stakeholders; and
- participate in industry group meetings and provide input on comment letters and other advocacy efforts.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3-5 years related bank regulatory legal experience at a reputable law firm, in house, or at a government agency, and NY bar membership in good standing or the ability to obtain registered in-house counsel status.
- Bank Regulatory experience required (overall bank regulatory experience, bank regulatory change management, or bank regulatory engagement and advocacy)
- Experience with global markets activities preferred but not required.
- Ability to work proactively and independently, collaborate effectively with stakeholders throughout the firm, including senior leadership, work well in high-pressure situations, juggle priorities, and manage external counsel.
- A quick learner and a critical thinker able to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances and new areas.
- Excellent judgment and ability to assess and challenge risk.

Salary Range
The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $170000-$270000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
