General Summary
Under the direction and supervision of a radiologist/physician, performs all procedures within the Diagnostic section of Radiology in the Medical Imaging Department. Observes all radiation safety guidelines and performs any other duties which assist in the provision of quality patient care according to the mission and values of the hospital.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic at a level normally acquired through completion of a high school education.
- Successful completion of an AMA approved training program in radiologic technology and certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Advanced schooling/ credentialing and certification are required to advance into areas of echocardiography, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, and mammography. Advanced study and certification preferred to advance to CAT SCAN, MRI and special procedures.
- Current CPR certification required.
- Approximately one to two years experience necessary in order to become familiar with equipment and procedures.
Working Conditions
- Normal patient care environment with little exposure to noise, dust, temperature and the like.
- Frequent exposure to radiation with little chance of injury when established safety procedures are followed.
- Substantial physical effort exerted up to fifty percent of work time.
- Ability to walk, stand, and bend more than eighty percent of time.
- Frequent (fifty to eighty percent of work time) exposure to adverse conditions.
Reporting Relationships
Reports to assigned Manager/Lead Imaging Technologist.
