WHO WE ARE
The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. is a leading global financial services firm providing investment banking, securities and investment management services to a substantial and diversified client base that includes corporations, financial institutions, governments and high-net-worth individuals. The firm is headquartered in New York and maintains offices in London, Frankfurt, Tokyo, Hong Kong and other major financial centres around the world.
GLOBAL MARKETS
Our core value is building strong relationships with our institutional clients, which include corporations, financial service providers, and fund managers. We help them buy and sell financial products on exchanges around the world, raise funding, and manage risk. This is a dynamic, entrepreneurial team that includes individuals who have a passion for the markets and who thrive in fast-paced, changing environments and are energized by a bustling trading floor.
At Goldman Sachs, our culture is one of teamwork, innovation and meritocracy. We often say our people are our greatest asset and we take pride in supporting each colleague both professionally and personally. From collaborative work spaces and ergonomic services to wellbeing and resilience offerings, we offer our TDG professionals the flexibility and support they need to reach their goals in and outside the office.
YOUR IMPACT
You will be an integral part of a global team of trading documentation professionals, focused on the build out of our first line of defence Policy, Documentation & Outreach Group (“PDO”) Risk function, partnering with trading documentation professionals across Prime and Franchise Global Banking and Markets Division business areas and related trading agreements.
As a member of the PDO Risk team, you will interact extensively with a range of stakeholders across business areas, both regionally and functionally. You will also coordinate and work with our core group of negotiators and leadership, playing a pivotal role in delivering change that will drive efficiency and greater commercial risk management in the first line of defence. Your contribution will be pivotal in supporting our commitment to increase revenue opportunity, enhance the client experience while effectively managing risk and grow the knowledge base of the PDO.
In this role, amongst other responsibilities, you will play a crucial part in enhancing our organization’s capacity to trade in financial products in a manner that optimizes risk management, playing a pivotal role in working to close the gap between completing the onboarding of a new client and trading without positive netting and collateral enforceability rules being systematically in place. As a Firm, as part of our client onboarding process, we risk manage through agreeing the requisite positive netting and collateral enforceability contractual protections to ensure we have the legal right to net / enforce against our counterparties under various trading agreements, across all businesses. We lose the benefit of this analysis if we do not translate these efforts in to ensuring our internal systems accurately reflect these rights prior to the initiation of trading with new and existing counterparties.
OUR IMPACT
The team is responsible for providing outstanding service by engaging with clients, understanding their trading activity, regulatory obligations and business strategies. We handle all aspects of the relevant negotiation and are therefore an essential component in the creation and maintenance of a trading relationship.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Creating and implementing a new workflow: Elevate our risk management, client onboarding and legal document negotiation processes for onboarding new clients and/or agreements, where respective client on-boarding and legal document negotiation teams are trained to meticulously check that netting and enforceability rules apply to new activity. In instances where these rules are absent, optimize risk management through adding or creating such rules into internal GS systems, as relevant.
- Tooling: Develop tools that will optimize risk management and decision making through providing greater transparency - prior to exposure or margin appearing in GS accounts - into whether anticipated trades / collateral will benefit from positive netting and collateral enforceability.
- Key Results: Tracking, recording and reporting Risk Weighted Average savings and other efficiencies to senior management. Develop and implement business intelligence solutions that provide strategic insights and drive informed decision making.
- Query management: As a member of Risk, you will interact extensively with a range of stakeholders across business areas, both regionally and functionally. You will also coordinate and work with our core group of negotiators and leadership team, playing a pivotal role in driving change. This role involves keeping senior management apprised of the implementation of a global training programme, KPIs and managing queries from different parts of the Firm.
- Policy: Identify new themes and recommend updates to playbooks for second line of defence Risk Division approval.
- Tech Uplift: Work with our internal Engineering team on developing platforms to seamlessly integrate netting and collateral enforceability treatment from our documentation into trading and other internal systems.
- Risk Optimization: Working closely with GS legal and PDO negotiators to stay informed about industry best practices, regulatory and legal changes affecting collateral and netting and partnering with this groups to evaluate and enhance existing rules in response.
- Testing: Conducting thorough testing to validate the effectiveness of new and/or enhanced netting and collateral and enforceability rules.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in an analytical field (computing, finance, economics, business studies, mathematics).
- Minimum of 2 years of work experience in an analytical/data/product development function (preferably within banking/finance/legal/consultancy sector).
- Working knowledge of derivatives and financial products desired. Familiarity with trading documentation dealing with positive netting and collateral management (such as ISDA/CSA/GMRA/GMSLA, etc.) desired.
- Knowledge of rule engine technologies and programming languages.
- Good understanding of business Intelligence solutions (Tableau, Alteryx, SQL for instance).
- Ability to oversee the production of and contribute to the design of business intelligence dashboards.
- Understanding of data–modelling and practices.
- Understanding of project management fundamentals and experience of data-centric projects across a cross-functional landscape.
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience analyzing large datasets and ability to present facts based on complex data; applying data-cleaning techniques along with performing statistical analysis leading to the understanding of the structure of datasets.
- Detail oriented with a high level of accuracy and keen eye in identifying inconstancies, discrepancies, outliers and trends that are not obvious.
- Sound analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to bring clarity to previously undefined problems, experience explaining technical issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and presenting data-insights to senior audiences.
