We have an exciting opportunity for a Director of Government Affairs to join our Business Development team in Washington, DC.
This position typically reports to a senior leader and is responsible for overseeing the company's policy and regulatory with elected officials and government officials in the executive branch. Ensures the policy and regulatory environment supports the company's priorities. Provides leadership and guidance in determining strategic direction on potential opportunities based on the U.S. government policy and regulatory landscape, national security priorities, and other policy guidance. Engages with foreign embassies in Washington, DC to make their representatives aware of GA capabilities and identifies opportunities to align with their priorities in Washington. This position will also be responsible for engaging various commands, particularly Air Force Security Assistance Command (AFSAC) in Dayton, USAFE, and EUCOM to press company priorities. This position will also support the DoD Strategic Development team, as needed, in engagements with customers, decision-makers, and influencers on discrete domestic programs. This person will be expected to work closely with the CONOPS team to develop compelling narratives to gain the support of U.S. government officials. Finally, this position will take the lead in engaging policy officials on international opportunities for next-generation programs like the Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA), Longshot, and others.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Represent the company to the executive branch to advance company priorities; educate USG regulatory and policy personnel about company capabilities, pursuits and priorities.
Provide leadership and strategic direction to senior leadership and colleagues in Strategic Development and P&Ls on potential opportunities and the interaction with executive branch policies, initiatives and procedures.
Provide strategic guidance to senior leadership and P&Ls on policy and exportability strategies to ensure support of the government and other regulatory agencies.
Oversee the development of policies; determine priorities and develop strategies to achieve them while remaining consistent with established goals and metrics.
Engage with representatives at foreign embassies located in Washington, DC to keep them apprised of GA-ASI capabilities and align with their priorities.
Support the DoD Strategic Development team on discrete domestic programs, as needed.
Work with CONOPS team to develop compelling narratives, in an effort to gain U.S. government support for particular programs
Lead/shape policy for international opportunities on CCAs, Longshot, and other next-generation programs
Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.

Typically requires a Bachelors or Masters in international affairs, political science, or business administration or a related field and fifteen or more years of progressively complex experience in domestic and/or foreign sales activities with at least nine years managing government and regulatory affairs activities. Must demonstrate a detailed and extensive expertise and application of policy, legislative and regulatory principles and concepts, and practice as well as comprehensive project management and leadership skills including organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones.
Must demonstrate extensive knowledge and of domestic and/or international regulations and policies. Must possess the ability to resolve unusually complex problems; and serve as spokesperson on projects.
Strong communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required to enable an effective interface with other departments, all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, potential customers, and government and regulatory officials.
