Summary:
Evaluates, establishes treatment plans, and administers a medically prescribed Speech Language Cognition and/or Dysphagia program, in accordance with professional guidelines, as described by the American Speech and Hearing Association, State of Ohio guidelines and Summa Health System/Rehabilitation Services requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Formal Education Required: a. Master’s Degree in Speech/Language Pathology
2. Experience & Training Required: a. Current licensure to practice Speech/Language Pathology issued by the Ohio Board of Speech Pathology and Audiology b. Current Basic Life Support for Health Care Provider (CPR) certification through the American Heart Association c. Inpatient SLP: Demonstrated independent competency performing and interpreting video fluoroscopic evaluation and swallowing and Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation Swallowing (FEES) and/or ability to become proficient and competent within one (1) year from date of hire. d. Registration with the Board as meeting all requirement to practice under the supervision of a licensed Speech Language Pathologist during the Clinical Fellowship Year as required for licensure in the State of Ohio e. Prefer active participation within professional organization
Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications: a. Professional verbal and written communication skills required for communication to referral sources, customer relations, interdisciplinary care and other stakeholders. b. Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self -respect, dignity, cultural compassion, diversity and inclusion c. Must be able to meet the physical demands of the work environment (see #3) d. Must be willing to advocate for and work with persons with all disabilities/conditions. e. Show flexibility/adaptability in meeting environmental constraints and regulatory demands placed on services/service delivery. Rotates through selected treatment areas and/or facilities when necessary to facilitate organizational service delivery and patient care needs. f. Assumes accountability for effectively demonstrating Service Excellence Care and following Standards of Behavior, Six Commitments and department policies and procedures and department work expectations. g. Successfully completes annual competency requirements h. Complete a minimum of 40 hours patient care coverage annually (PRN only)
3. Level of Physical Demands:
a. Heavy: Exerts 50-100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25-50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10-20 pounds of force continuously to move objects b. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination c. Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time d. Ability to lift and transport patients and equipment as position requires e. Ability to continuously stand and walk; frequently squat, climb stairs, bend to the floor, reach over the shoulder, kneels, twist, sit, stand and remain in uncomfortable positions for prolonged periods of time f. Acute hearing for determining differentiations in speech problems, vocal quality and patient progress in same g. Requires exposure to communicable disease, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and other potentially hazardous conditions common to a clinical environment.

The salary range on this job posting/advertising is base salary exclusive of any bonuses or differentials. Many factors, such as years of relevant experience and geographical location are considered when determining the starting rate of pay.
