The Role
The Operations Manager oversees all production and maintenance functions to ensure efficient and profitable manufacturing operations. Will prepare and control departmental budgets, provide leadership in safety, housekeeping, quality and improving cost reduction. Contributes to the accuracy and effectiveness of the planning and goal setting process by developing, recommending, implementing, and achieving operational plans, goals, budgets, and capital requirements. This position will also help develop floor supervision, promote positive labor relations and provide communication feedback to all levels of the organization. The position will report to and work closely with the Plant Manager in strategic and capital expenditures planning.
Maintains continuous dialogue and communication with the Plant Manager as needed to keep him apprised of the status of safety, quality, production, schedules, loads, problems and opportunities available to maximize efficient operations and to enhance the overall operations of the company manufacturing operations
Maintains open, candid and continuous communications with personnel from all functions to ensure that essential information is disseminated to insure accomplishment of critical business objectives and customer satisfaction.
Manage, direct, plan and coordinate (through Manufacturing Managers and Production Supervisors) the manufacturing activities of nine shingle production lines in order to meet plant objectives, annual Profit Plan and monthly forecast.
Determine effect of production load changes on plant operations. Take action(s) to adjust capacities (labor and/or equipment) to meet new production requirements.
Review plant-operating practices insuring that safety, production and quality standards are maintained/enhanced.
Assure appropriate working climate by maintaining proper discipline, morale and employee relations.
Participate in planning and/or decision making in matters concerning financial and operational problems, inventory control, plant policy, Facility/Maintenance issues and staffing.
Support the identification, development, and drive implementation of new manufacturing methods, equipment, material planning, quality improvement, and Lean and Six Sigma methods.
Report all EH&S incidents – Injuries/Recordables, Near Misses, First Aid, Environmental and Property/Equipment Damage.
Ensure adherence to Waste Management and Recycling responsibilities.
Participate in Incident & Near Miss Investigations to determine root cause and corrective actions.
Attend all plant safety meetings including Central EHS – participating members of a plant EH&S Team.
Conduct weekly SMAT Audits or any other requirements as requested by Manager.
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years industrial manufacturing experience or equivalent work experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
Six to eight (6 - 8) years manufacturing experience in management capacity, prior first line shop supervisor as well as experience in at least two different manufacturing support functions such as Production Control or Quality Assurance.
Strong working knowledge of product structure, manufacturing processes as well as quality standards and modern manufacturing technologies and techniques, TPM. (autonomous maintenance, professional maintenance and early equipment management), quality and process control including Statistical Process Control (SPC), 5S, standardized work and other Lean principles.
Proficiency in Six Sigma, TPM and Lean Manufacturing concepts.
Human Relations Skills Ability to effectively interface with and engage the skills and talents of employees supervised to improve business performance.

We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer prospective candidates and provide the national pay range for this position which is $87,500 to $135,500 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 12% of base salary, based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $98,000 to $151,760. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.
