The Material Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of materials planning, inventory control, and supplier performance to ensure the efficient production and delivery of high-quality products. This role requires strong leadership skills, proficiency and leadership in SAP, and a solid understanding of scheduling, sourcing, and supplier management.
What Will You Do?
SAP Leadership:
- Oversee and manage the use of SAP for materials management, ensuring accurate data entry and system integrity.
- Train and support team members in the effective use of SAP.
- Collaborate with leadership team to troubleshoot and resolve any SAP-related issues.
Scheduling and Production Planning:
- Develop and maintain production schedules to meet customer demand while optimizing inventory levels.
- Coordinate with production and engineering teams to ensure material availability for production runs.
- Monitor and adjust schedules to accommodate changes in demand or production capacity.
Inventory Control:
- Implement and maintain inventory control systems to ensure accurate inventory records and minimize stock discrepancies.
- Conduct regular physical inventory counts and reconcile with system records.
- Optimize inventory levels to reduce carrying costs while ensuring material availability.
Supplier Performance Management:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable delivery of materials.
- Monitor and evaluate supplier performance based on quality, delivery, and cost metrics.
- Address and resolve any supplier-related issues or discrepancies.
Sourcing and Procurement:
- Work to insure that our suppliers to meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies to improve supplier performance and reduce costs.
Team Leadership:
- Lead and develop a team of materials management, scheduling and inventory professionals, providing guidance and support to achieve manufacturing goals.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork within the materials management team.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
What Do You Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in materials management within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in SAP and other inventory management software.
- Strong understanding of production scheduling, inventory control, and procurement processes.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven leadership abilities and experience managing a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
