Job Summary
Under moderate direction, provides technical advice to the sales/product management teams to develop, sell, and successfully implement product or service solutions that will meet the customer's needs. Acts as a resource for less experienced professionals.
Conducts independent analysis of operating conditions and specifications proposed and requested by customers. Determines feasibility and product cost estimates from consideration of applicable policies and engineering requirements. Prepares proposals and quotations and quotations and determines appropriate pricing, as needed.
Conducts post-sale activities such as resolving implementation issues and providing technical training to the customer. Acts as a technical liaison to the sales team. May include pre-sale activities such as quoting.
Develops, updates, and maintains product specification documents.
Selects and creates appropriate testing required to evaluate products and assists with testing, as necessary. Captures and reports product testing results to management and/or more senior engineers.
Prepares and delivers technical reports and presentations to DENSO customers and other divisions. Prepares other engineering documentation such as BOMs, ECNs and CAD drawings, as required by engineering management.
Locates and purchases product evaluation samples.
Participates in benchmarking activities. Collects and compiles information on competitor products and may assist with the evaluation of patent-related data.
Monitors and reviews warranty data and assists with conducting root cause analysis of warranty issues. Communicates with quality engineering, manufacturing, and customers on quality issues.
Analyzes current processes, procedures, and systems and makes recommendations for improvement for own job.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Good knowledge of AC systems and their components: functions, diagnostics, components interactions, and performance testing
Basic knowledge of electrical circuits, theory, and electrical components
Ability to define and set up testing based on project requirements.
Ability to analyze data and draw conclusions based on testing data.
Application engineering for HVAC system: sizing components, heat load calculations, extreme case analysis
Mechanically inclined and capable of using basic hand tools.
Ability to work in a team environment and lead/work in cross-functional groups.
Ability to coordinate and work on numerous projects simultaneously.
Good written and verbal communication skills and excellent presentation skills
Good customer services skills with an ability to approach every business relationship as a partnership.
Good problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to address customer issues and partner on resolutions.

In-depth understanding and demonstrated competency in working with computer software and mainframe applications to manipulate, analyze, and reconcile data.
Intermediate knowledge of AutoCAD/Inventor/NX and other engineering software and databases

Travel requirements: Domestic: 10%; International 5%

Visual requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision. Physical requirements include standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, talking, hearing and repetitive motions. Position work environment is typically indoors in pleasant, well-lighted area with comfortable temperatures and in a controlled environment where no significant amounts of dust, fumes or odors. Occasionally exposed to a warehouse or production environment with moving mechanical parts and material handling equipment.
