Summary:
The Assistant Vineyard Manager is accountable for developing and progressing the implementation of the sites’ operational farming plans, as well as specific aspects of the running of the vineyards as business units, under managerial direction. Overseeing the contract management will be a key function of this role, assuring vineyard employee and contract labor safety and efficiency in work practices. Planning and execution of the seasonal technical program of sites.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Participation in the development and implementation of the weekly site work program with a focus on field supervision, ensuring operational quality, employee and contractor safety and achievement of stipulated company targets (i.e. time frame, bud numbers, etc.) are met
- Participate in the business planning process for the sites and assist the implementation of site strategies and objectives
- Foster innovation in work practices through integration of viticulture best practice and continuous improvement into the business.
- Facilitate continuous improvement processes that minimize costs of production without compromising “end use” specification of fruit.
- Recruit, manage and support operational employees to meet production and business requirements, allowing for seasonal and business cycle variations
- Develop the capability of the vineyard supervisory team to enable them to make and implement decisions.
- Foster a workplace culture that is consistent with the values of the organization
Qualifications:
- Tertiary Qualifications in Viticulture or a closely related field; combination of education and experience in agriculture setting preferred.
- Current Class C CA Driver’s License.
About You
- You have experience in a leadership role in viticulture or related business.
- You have an agricultural degree and/or equivalent years’ experience managing viticultural/agricultural enterprises.
- You have commercial business acumen.
- You have experience supervising or managing people.
- You have excellent communication skills both written, verbal; interpersonal.
- You have computer literacy particularly in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- You have demonstrated ability to lead a work team.
- You have Conversational Spanish (preferable).
- You have familiarity with drip and overhead irrigation systems.
- You have familiarity with pesticides and calibrations.
- You have familiarity with sustainable vineyard practices.
- You have familiarity with agricultural safety, equipment and practices.

Pay Transparency Disclosure: The base pay range offered for this position is $57,000 to $74,000 per year. These figures represent what we reasonably expect to pay for this position, but the actual compensation offered will depend upon numerous job-related factors, including but not limited to candidate qualifications, skills, experience, education, location, and alignment with market data. Our expectation is that the incumbent will work out of Sonoma, CA. If the incumbent works out of another location, the wage rate may fall above or below this range. Treasury reserves the right to modify the range in the future.
