The position entails making daily decisions on project design features, including technical issues, design details, coordination with other units/agencies, and supervising subordinate staff. Projects have a broad scope, involving basic highway design studies, preliminary designs, and final design, right-of-way, and construction plans for various highway projects. Completed plans are reviewed by the District Plans Engineer before being sealed by a Professional Engineer (P.E.).

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Allentown.
• This position is eligible for alternate work schedule after successful completion of probation.
• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year as a Highway Designer; or
• Five years of professional experience in highway design work including six months of CADD operation; and an Associate's Degree in civil engineering, drafting, or design technology; or
• Two years of professional experience in highway design work including six months of CADD operation; and a Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering, or a closely related field; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
