Department Overview
Oversees the multi-year work plan for Gas Operations and partners with internal departments to develop the Strategy Plan (BPD) ensuring work and resource plans align with the budget plan request and link appropriately to the regulatory recovery process. Monitors in-year execution of the work plan by the operations execution organizations. Collaborates with the Functional Area Business Finance team to monitor and reallocate budget between the various programs and maintain an overall view of budget performance.

The Principal Gas Program Manager will support guiding the building of Gas Work and Resource Planning strategy across the organization. The candidate will leverage their technical expertise to help guide strategic decisions within Gas Operations.
Responsibilities include managing special programs and projects, ensuring proper business management, meeting governance, developing Gas Work and Resource Planning strategy as well as providing dedicated technical advice. The Principal Gas Program Manager will leverage their quantitative background to build metrics, monitor work execution, guide work and resource planning and calculate execution risks.
This role will work with the Gas Work and Resource Planning leadership team on day-to-day matters and will collaborate them on long term planning and other strategic issues.
This role will coordinate ELT participation in enterprise activities and initiatives and may represent the Director at various meetings and/or activities. Under direction of the Director, the candidate will rely on their experience in data analytics, project management, process improvement, operations, strategy formulation, and assembling presentations for the senior leadership team.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need.
This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.

This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.?
A reasonable salary range is:?
Bay Area Minimum: $?140,000
Bay Area Maximum: $?238,000

Job Responsibilities
The Principal Gas Program Manager role may be responsible for any, or all, of the following:
- Manages cross-functional projects and initiatives
- Partners with Gas Work and Resource Planning leadership and individual coworkers to further implement 5 Lean Plays across the organization.
- Collaborates with Gas Work and Resource Planning leadership team and peers to determine the most appropriate and effective program performance metrics. Develops content and format for reports and dashboards. Prepares and presents regular updates to senior management, addressing issues and gaining buy-in on solutions
- Leads peers and partner organizations to develop and implement new and/or improved processes, procedures, policies, controls, and best practices to improve customer satisfaction, efficiencies, regulatory compliance and reduce costs
- May work with other project or program managers or peers in other departments or regions to reschedule work, re-allocate funds and explore creative solutions to achieve financial and productivity goals
- Develops business cases for budget and/or additional funding during the year
- Anticipates issues and develops innovative solutions. May design and develop new, complex programs
- May act as business owner for specialized systems or tools used as part of the project work in the program. Works with IT and/or tool vendor on defining user needs and implementing enhancements/updates.
- Coaching and mentoring less experienced coworkers
- Development of communication and training plans. Ensuring target audience is fully educated and adheres to program policies, processes, procedures.
- Management of all aspects of programs that are cross functional, complex, of broad scope and have a significant financial or political impact on the line of business.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Experience in project management
- Job-related experience, 10 years
- Experience in managing budgets
- Experience with SAP
