Job Abstract

DEFINITION: Under close supervision, performs a variety of unskilled and skilled duties in support of assigned program functions. This is an entry level position designed to provide the Trainee with opportunities to explore and exposure to various career paths and options, job readiness and training opportunities.

The City Corps Leader Trainee is a classification assigned to staff 18 years of age and older. Incumbents learn and are assigned a variety of duties related to community and public service projects.

Knowledge of: Basic awareness of community, recreational and human services programs and team activities; basic math.

Ability to: Perform a variety of duties involving City Corps programs and participants; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, members of the public and others encountered in the course of work.

Physical and Environmental Demands

Prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting, and stooping in the performance of daily activities; required to stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, climb, kneel, reach, push, pull, grasp, pick, pinch, ride and perform similar body movements; lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Incumbent must have the ability to work outdoors in inclement weather; exposure to-potentially-hazardous chemicals, heat, and cold; work around slippery or uneven surfaces; exposure to-potentially-hazardous chemicals, heat, cold and inclement weather conditions; Incumbent may be exposed to fumes, dust and air contaminants.

Education & Experience: Must be 18 years of age. The City Corps Leader Trainee is expected to be enrolled in an educational program during their employment, and be actively developing and pursuing a vocational path.

License and Certificates: Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid class C driver's license within twelve months of employment.

A valid First Aid / Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) / Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certificate must be obtained within six months of employment.
