FOOD SERVICES SUPERVISOR
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Under general supervision, to plan, organize, coordinate and lead a secondary school cafeteria operation; plan organize, coordinate, requisition, receive and store foodstuffs and supplies; plan, organize, coordinate, and lead in the conduct of all daily food service activities; and to do other related work as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:
- Principles, methods, procedures and techniques of preparing, cooking, baking and servicing foods in large quantities,
- Standard food service terminology, appliance and equipment;
- Sanitation and safety practices and procedures;
- Menu planning, nutrition and National School Lunch Program and breakfast program requirements;
- Basic record keeping, money handling and banking procedures;
Ability to:
- Effectively lead food service personnel in the cooking, baking and serving of nutritionally sounds and attractive foods;
- Determine and recommend alternative food substitutes;
- Adhere to guidelines of the National School Lunch and Breakfast Program guidelines and requirements;
- Organize, plan and lead others;
- Perform arithmetical calculations with speed and accuracy;
- Maintain complete and accurate inventory control and other operational records;
- Understand and carry out oral and written directions;
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Possess valid and current California Driver's License (If hired, verification of automobile insurance will be required.)
- Provide own transportation (Allowance for mileage)
- Ability so speak, read, and write English
- Possess a current Serve Safe or Food Handlers Certificate
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that the person in this position must perform in carrying out essential jobfunctions.
- Persons performing service in this position will exert 10 to 20 pounds of force frequentley to lift, carry, puch, pull, or otherwise move objects.
- This type of work involves constant movement within the work area, and will involve walking or standing for extended periods.
- Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception providing oral information, the manuel dexterity to operate food sercie related equipment, handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A high school diploma or equivalent and any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and skill quilifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and skilll would be:
- High school graduation or equivalent, supplemented by training or coursework in nutrition, quantity food preparation, or other related areas.
- Three years experience in quantity food preparation, service and kitchen maintenance functions in a commercial, institutional or school food service facility, including one year in a lead capacity.
