Job Description
NBCU News Group is looking for a Director of Digital Analytics & Data Strategy to join our Research team at 30 Rock in New York, and drive forward the future of news products for the next generation of news consumers. This position will support NBCU News Group brands such as NBC News, MSNBC and TODAY across digital platforms with data analytics and performance insights. A visible role, managing requests and reports for stakeholders from business units across the organization including Editorial, Audience Growth, Finance, Marketing, Communications, Technology, Product, Operations and Business Development. The Director of Digital Analytics and Data Strategy will architect a framework to support data visualizations, that uncover insights, inform strategy, and optimize performance.
Objectives
Be a trusted data resource across the organization, center of excellence
Define business KPIs and track progress across digital platforms for editorial and brand initiatives
Create a data analytics framework for NBCU News Group across brands and platforms
Visualize data driving insights and informing business and content decisions
Find new datasets and metrics to further mature our insights and intelligence
Communicate across research, editorial and business teams educating on data structure, methodology and performance results
Ensure data accuracy, integrity and security throughout the data visualization lifecycle
Be a leader and mentor on the team and within the organization
Responsibilities
Provide expert analysis on digital trends within the news and media industry
Share insights into user behavior, consumption patterns, content and product performance
Support day-to-day data requests from departments across the organization with data insights and visualizations
Oversee regular reports, dashboards and presentations for editorial and management
Manage digital data infrastructure for NBCU News Group, maintaining data health and quality
Build upon current data visualizations/dashboards (Domo) to create a framework for digital performance across brands and platforms
Incorporate outstanding datasets and new brands and platforms within the News Group (Domo)
Meet regularly with key stakeholders to support all digital data needs and challenges
Educate research and other business units on data best practices and data infrastructure
Manage team of two data analysts, and liaise with Business Intelligence team, to leverage data lake and expertise
This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks. Qualifications
BA/BS in Data Science, Statistics, Business, Mathematics, Information Technology or related field, or equivalent work experience.
8+ years of experience working in digital analytics, business intelligence or product/technology
Expert ability to manipulate data using data programming language, SQL, Python, etc.
Advanced data collection and visualization skills using tools like Domo, Tableau, and/or Microsoft Excel
Understanding of media metrics, digital & social analytics, ad technology and TV ratings
Strong project management skills with experience managing multi-team workflows
