We’re actively seeking a talented Emerging Market Credit Analyst to join our Emerging Market team in Newport Beach, CA. This role is hybrid. We believe in empowering our employees to get work done both in and out of the office.
As an Emerging Market Credit Analyst, you’ll play a key role in Pacific Life’s growth and long-term success by supporting our team in conducting research and analyzing the dynamics and trends of countries and industries as well as investment merits to influence team decisions and portfolio selection. Your colleagues will include fellow credit analysts and investment professionals.
How you’ll help move us forward:
- Assist the Emerging Markets debt team in conducting fundamental research on sovereign and quasi-sovereign issuers, as well as emerging market corporate and project finance issuers.
- Independently conduct fixed income research studies. Analyses may focus on individual securities or classes of securities.
- Make buy, sell, and hold recommendations.
- Build a performance track record.
- Often provide direction to more junior research staff.
- Conduct due diligence calls, analytical research, and participate in investor calls/roadshows.
- Prepare summaries of investment opportunities, including document reviews of covenants and structural enhancements.
- Analyze financial models and help to conduct portfolio analysis.
- Manage flow of investment offering material and monitor compliance reports to evaluate performance of portfolio positions.
- Actively monitor existing portfolio investments and assets.
- Represent Pacific Life with outside constituents, participate in investor conferences and interact with various internal groups.
- Develop relationships with sell-side stake holders to include salespeople, traders, research analysts and strategists.
- Collaborate with fellow senior research analysts and portfolio managers in the execution of your duties.
- Generate value-added trade ideas and participate in the execution of purchases of new issues and secondary trading.
The experience you bring:
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
- Credit research background in sovereign analysis, or specific industries/project finance
- MBA/CFA or advanced degree required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Advanced Excel proficiency

Base Pay Range:
The base pay range noted represents the company’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.
$159,660.00 - $195,140.00
