Internal Communications Co-Op Position
Our Company's Animal Health in Rahway, NJ has an opportunity for a co-op who will work collaboratively in a team environment to assist in activities and deliverables focused on supporting internal communications efforts associated with the development, execution, and realization of our company’s Animal Health global communications strategy. Primary activities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Assist in the development and execution of internal communication strategies.
Create and edit content for internal communications channels, including the news channel, global newsletter, email updates, intranet/SharePoint site, employee social media channel, and digital monitors.
Develop timely, compelling and relevant story ideas for internal communications channels.
Create and maintain internal communications content trackers and editorial calendars.
Assist in organizing and coordinating internal events and employee engagement activities.
Help produce internal video projects.
Coordinate employee survey about internal communications to measure reach and effectiveness.
Conduct research and gather information to support internal communication initiatives.
Provide support as needed to the communications function by assisting in the creation of a broad array of global communication materials such as news articles, SharePoint content, PowerPoint slides, newsletters.
Collaborate with agency parties and third-party vendors in completing internal communication projects.
Attend meetings with marketing and cross-functional teams to help identify internal news opportunities as well as learn more about our business.
Attend meetings with regional Communications teams to learn more about supporting global communications needs, as well as gain a general understanding of the ex-US business.
Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of internal communication efforts.
Location: This role is based in Rahway, New Jersey.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must currently be enrolled in a relevant degree program (e.g., communications, journalism, public relations, marketing).
Undergraduate students in junior or senior year or Graduate students are eligible to apply.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
Prior work experience in communications/journalism, such as working on a school-sponsored newspaper or magazine, an internship or in a volunteer position.
Experience in journalism news writing and proofreading. Familiarity with AP Stylebook a plus.
Strong proficiency in English language grammar.
Attention to detail.
Ability to be a team player and work independently.
Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment and be flexible.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with communication tools and platforms. Experience with SharePoint, Stream and Viva Engage a plus.
Candidates must be available to work a minimum of 20 hours during the academic calendar year and full-time between the months of May – August 2024.
Candidates must be able to work in the office 2-3 times per week. Remaining workdays will be remote based.
Preferred Experience or Skills:
Exhibit initiative, strategic thinking and creative problem solving.
Knowledge of working with graphics and visual assets. Experience with filming videos and taking photography a plus.
Knowledge of the basic principles of the communications profession.
Knowledge of internal communication best practices and emerging trends is a plus.
Working methods
The co-op will report to the director of Global Internal Communications.
Each week, the co-op will meet with the manager to discuss responsibilities, including deliverables and timeline.
The co-op, manager and executive director of Global External and Internal Communications will communicate regularly.
The co-op is encouraged to seek regular feedback from the manager and executive director as required throughout the week.
The co-op will participate in performance reviews, receiving feedback from manager, colleagues and stakeholders.
The co-op will have access to company-held professional development in communications and other professional skillsets.
Under New York City, Colorado State, Washington State, and California State law, the Company is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate’s relevant skills, experience, and education.
Expected salary range:
$39,600.00-$105,500.00
