COACHING JOB OPENING HEAD CHEERLEADING COACH CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL
The Head Cheerleading Coach is responsible for coaching student athletes in competitive cheerleading techniques to prepare them for events and/or competition. Position motivates student athletes to develop an appreciation of the sport. The Coach is responsible for setting and conducting practice times after academic classes and supervising the team at games, camp and any other activity where the team cheers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Organize and run effective warm up, practices and games.
Attends tryouts, practices, games, competitions, and cheer camp.
Assesses skills and assigns team positions.
With the Athletic Director, maintains a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time to provide both individual and team development.
Create, clean, and/or teach routines.
Coaches and instructs cheerleaders, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
Observes cheerleaders, during events and practice, to determine the needs for individual or team improvement.
Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior and provides proper supervision and discipline of students at all times.
Has current CPR and first aid certification.
Follows established procedures in the event of an injury.
Conferences with the Athletic Director and parents/guardians, as necessary, regarding the performance of and/or disciplinary actions taken with students.
Follows state, regional, and CIF regulations governing the program
Models positive sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards cheerleaders, officials, and spectators.
Promotes a spirit of cooperation and friendship between the cheerleaders and the dance team.
Keep on hand eligibility forms, emergency data cards, insurance records, equipment inventory, and other related records as provided by the Athletic Director.
Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
Encourage cheerleaders to participate in other campus events and service projects.
Help plan and facilitate group and morale-building activities for the team.
Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or other appropriate administrators

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum High School Diploma Required
CT SDE coaching certification or Connecticut Teaching Certificate
First Aid Certification

Experience as a coach at high school or college level preferred; combination of head coach, assistant coach, player and/or education may be substituted
Three years’ high school coaching experience preferred
Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills
Must possess knowledge of rules, regulations, strategies and techniques of the sport
Bilingual in Spanish, preferred
