TECHNOLOGY AND ELECTRONIC MEDIA
AND MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN
BASIC FUNCTION:
Under supervision, perform skilled maintenance, repair, modifications and installation on electrical and electronic systems and equipment and all types of computer information/electronic media, audio-visual equipment; and perform related duties as required.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assemble, install, maintain, and repair audio-visual systems and equipment, including the following: computers, printers, other computer related devices, various types of projectors, and video distribution systems;
2. Assemble, install, maintain, and repair computer equipment, including desktops, laptops, printers and peripherals;
3. Install, maintain and troubleshoot software, including desktop Window applications and network operating systems;
4. Use electronic and electrical test equipment to diagnose and isolate problems and make performance tests;
5. Diagnose causes of equipment failure;
6. Maintain inventory of spare parts; requisition parts and materials;
7. Assist in the selection of new and replacement equipment;
8. Train staff in care and use of equipment;
9. Perform inspections and services necessary for an effective preventative maintenance program on electronic and electrical systems and equipment; and
10. Other related duties.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
1. Computers, computer networks, sound systems, and audio visual equipment theory and techniques;
2. Methods, materials, and terminology used in current technology;
3. The principals of electricity and electronics; and
4. The operation and care of tools and equipment.
ABILITY TO:
1. Prepare, interpret, and work from wiring diagrams, schematics, drawings, and blueprints;
2. Use tools and electronic testing equipment;
3. Analyze equipment problems and determine necessary repairs;
4. Follow verbal and written instructions;
5. Prepare written reports;
6. Train and provide work directions to others;
7. Work cooperatively with others; and
8. Operate a motor vehicle.
EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/EDUCATION:
Any combination equivalent to:
1. Graduation from high school;
2. Minimum of two years hands-on experience with computer desktops, laptops and servers running Windows 2008 and 2012 operating systems and computer network equipment; and
3. A.A. degree and two years of experience in technology related field.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
1. Possession of a valid State of California Class C Drivers License.
