What We're Looking For: The City of Beverly Hills is seeking an outstanding Food Services Specialist who will provide the necessary attention to detail to support an ongoing meal service program for seniors. The Food Service Specialist will perform daily food service preparation as well as daily, weekly and monthly reporting to our food service program administrators. The position will be responsible for the safe service of food to our senior community, ongoing upkeep and cleanliness of the service area in line with County guidelines, and oversight of a daily sign-in sheet and donation log. Candidates for this position must possess knowledge of food preparation best practices, general nutrition guidelines for adults and seniors, and strong customer service skills. This position requires the ability to work both independently, and as part of a team, in a fast-paced environment with daily, weekly, and monthly recurring deadlines. The ideal candidate will be well organized, and skilled at both record keeping and reporting, as well as passionate about nutrition, food service, and serving the senior population. This position reports directly to the Senior Supervisor at the Roxbury Park Community Center.
Work Schedule:Monday - Friday, 10:00am - 2:00pm (schedule may be subject to change based on operational need). The incumbent must be available during the posted food service times.

Set-up kitchen and food service area.
Ensure food safety and handling guidelines are adhered to; monitor temperatures of food and equipment.
Order food and supplies.
Maintain detailed records of enrollment, clients served, meal tickets, and money collected.
Clean and operate kitchen equipment.
Maintains clean and sanitary conditions of food service areas.
Monitor food quality and catering delivery service.
Assign volunteer tasks in food handling and serving.
Prepare reports and documentation on program activities.
Prepare periodic status reports.
Attend off-site meetings with City partners to discuss program activities and issues.
Assist new or existing staff in learning departmental practices and protocols, methods, and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications
Experience and Training: Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience: Two years of responsible experience in coordinating a meal service program.
Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
License and Certificate
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver’s license as required by the position.
Possession of ServSafe Food Manager Certification.

Food preparation techniques and practices.
Safe food handling guidelines according to local, state, and federal regulations.
