Position: Senior Software Engineer
Job Location: 680 W. California Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA 94086
Duties: Design and implement software components for Wal-Mart.com's next-generation, global eCommerce website and various pieces of Wal-Mart software ecosystem in a massively scalable, highly performant, multi-tenant, global eCommerce software platform in Java. Participate in and drive software design architecture discussions to come up with software system designs and architecture for new software products or improvements to existing ones. Develop/Re-engineer software applications using industry standard development tools and technologies for scale. Design and develop Java and REST based software applications including the implementation of corresponding data models. Work with NoSQL databases such as Cassandra and Kafka to build Wal-Mart's backend software systems and contribute to Wal-Mart's eCommerce Item Ingestion pipeline software components such as Item Setup and Updates. Setup systems monitoring and alerting to maintain high availability and operational excellence. Debug system/data issues, resolve within SLAs and proactively work on expected software issues and long-term resolution strategies by conducting Root Cause Analysis on Production issues. Develop automation framework for application health checks to maintain high availability. Develop new adaptors and programs for applications using industry standard development tools and technologies. Develop and design features across multiple subsystems within applications. Responsible for POC, prototyping, designing, coding, testing, and deployment.
Minimum education and experience required: Master’s degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering (any) or related field and 2 years of experience in large scale enterprise software development environment; OR Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering (any) or related field and 5 years of experience in large scale enterprise software development environment.
Skills required: Experience designing and implementing REST API web services using Java, Spring, and Spring boot. Experience coding in Object-oriented programming language including Java and Python. Experience working and implementing systems using Cloud Services including GCP, Azure, and AWS. Experience working with various persistence and in-memory databases including SQL and No-SQL as well as Cassandra, Cosmos, MongoDB, Redis, SQLite, and MySQL. Experience with implementation of distributed pub-sub message queue and data processing streaming systems including Apache Kafka, Kafka Streams, Apache Spark, and Apache Flink. Experience with working with various software tools and technologies including version control systems (GIT), CI/CD, Jenkins, Looper, and GitLab. Experience with containerized applications including Docker and Container orchestration platform including Kubernetes. Experience with Software Technologies for setting up software system monitoring and alerting on Production Traffic using Splunk, Dynatrace, and Grafana dashboards. Experience writing unit test and integration test suite using Junit, Mockito, MockMvc, and WireMock testing frameworks. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.
Salary Range: $174,518/year to $234,000/year. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.? Additional compensation for certain positions may also include: Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location) and Stock equity incentives.
