Position Summary: Responsible for overseeing GSNEO’s Volunteer Recognition formal awards program and ensuring a year-round culture of volunteer appreciation. Manages the Volunteer Relations process for managing conflict by consulting with staff to and/or personally investigating and resolving conflicts involving members which arise out of or interfere with realizing the mission and goals of the Girl Scouts of North East Ohio or the successful implementation of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience
for girls and adults.
MajorAccountabilities:
Create a year-round culture of volunteer appreciation, that includes both formal and informal methods.
Actively work to investigate and resolve conflicts and manage the conflict resolution processes.
Coordinate and manage the Volunteer Recognition Committee.
Serve as a third-party facilitator/provide mediation to volunteers/caregivers/Girl Scouts when needed.
Provide coaching and consultation to staff and volunteers pertaining to conflict resolution.
Serve as chair of the Volunteer Relations team and Volunteer Eligibility and Appeals (CBC) team.
Promote and organize special days of recognition annually; Leader Appreciation Day, National Volunteer Month, Thank-a-Thon.
Directly oversee the Volunteer Training Coordinator and their successful execution of volunteer training and development to ensure volunteers are able to effectively implement the Girl Scout Leadership Experience for girls.
Directly oversee Volunteer Relations Coordinator and their successful execution of conflict resolution, troop and service unit financial compliance, and financial review process.
Create and implement volunteer and staff development opportunities (e.g., Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) initiatives, youth protection, sensitive issues) and lead related trainings.
Consult with GSNEO leadership about needed policy changes, update policy and procedure documents annually (e.g., GSNEO Member & Volunteer Policies, Safety Activity Checkpoints, Volunteer Essentials, Emergency Action Plan, Permission Forms) and communicate changes to the staff and volunteers.
Effectively interpret and enforce GSUSA and GSNEO policies and procedures to communities, volunteers and parents.
Maintain up-to-date standard operating procedures pertaining to recognition and resolution.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree with concentration in social sciences or related field of study, or equivalent experience
Minimum of three (3) years volunteer management, conflict management and/or customer service experience
Strong human relations skills such as leadership, networking, conflict management, mediation, facilitating adult learning and relationship building
Comfortable and effective ability to communicate virtually
Ability to prioritize and execute tangible actions
Ability to pay close attention to detail and maintain confidentiality
Ability to communicate the written and spoken word with tact, diplomacy, and/or authority when necessary
Well disciplined, able to meet deadlines, self-starter
Able to work under pressure of many priorities and deadlines
