The Raritan Bay Area YMCA is currently accepting applications/resumes for a Preschool Family Worker
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic urban, growing organization just 5 miles west of New York City in the water front city of Perth Amboy. The Raritan Bay Area YMCA has served the ever-evolving needs of our community since 1912. We enthusiastically serve over 6,000 members in the Raritan Bay area in our community building initiatives through Healthy Living, Youth Development and Social Responsibility.
Under the supervision of the Preschool Director, the Preschool Family Worker is responsible for supporting the preschool program and front office (if necessary) which includes but not limited to; maintaining students files, record and maintain CACFP required information, assist families with inquiries on community resources, distribute meals to all classrooms, assist with enrollment efforts for the preschool, meet with families of the program to identify any immediate needs, coordinate/facilitate parent committee meetings and coordinate/facilitate workshops for parents. The Preschool Family Worker serves as an additional point of contact for walk in traffic and incoming telephone calls as well as supporting the highest level of customer service for parents, staff, and visitors.
Some duties include:
- Maintain files
- Constructing flyers for the program
- Mail distribution
- Data entry/reports as needed including monthly district reports (in the absence of the front office admin) and CACFP meal counts
- Maintain bulletin boards
- Assist Teaching staff as needed.
- In the absence of the front office administrative assistant (perform duties/responsibilities including but not limited to:
Answer phones/forward messages
Ensure all visitors sign in/out entering and leaving the building
- Conduct or arrange tours of the facility for prospective families
- Complete and submit reports by required deadlines.
- Participate in organization-wide trainings, staff meetings, and special events; and complete the required training hours.
- Maintain confidentiality of student, families and all program matters.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
- Assists in fund raising activities and special events.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by Director of Preschool or VP of Operations.
- Assist with CACFP requirements.
- Daily Bus Duty
This is a full-time, nonexempt position.

QUALIFICATIONS
A. Experience:
· The Family Worker shall possess an Associates’ or higher college degree and with two years related experience.
· Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
B. Education/Certification
· Associates or higher college degree from an accredited university
· CPR and First Aid (must obtain within first 6 months of employment)
C. Skills:
· Excellent organization skills
· Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite
· Ability to work under supervision.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills.
· Ability to stay alert to potential safety and security situations
· Ability to carry out instructions independently
· Ability to get along with individuals of diverse backgrounds and be enthusiastic, courteous and friendly with students, parents and staff
· Skills in planning, organizing, systematizing, implementing are essential.
· Must have proven skills in problem solving and decision-making.
