Summary
The primary purpose of the Sourcing Specialist position is to provide skilled assistance in the strategic sourcing of goods, equipment, or services. Interacts with customers and stakeholders in identifying categories of spend optimal for strategic sourcing.
Key Functions
1.Assists in contract negotiations, development of request for proposals, and implementation and administration of supplier contracts and agreements.
2.Collaborates with suppliers, group purchasing organizations, and other higher education institutions to assess emerging spend aggregation opportunities.
3.Monitors supply markets and conduct market intelligence and utilize information obtained to develop comprehensive reports and presentations.
4.Ensures continued compliance with all regulatory requirements, procurement guidelines, policies and procedures both internally at MD Anderson
5.Works with suppliers to drive enabling technology solutions including eProcurement & electronic catalogs.
6.Meets with customers routinely to proactively identify and leverage sourcing and contract value opportunities.
7.Executes multiple complex analysis using financial models such as Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), Lease vs. Buy and Economic Value Models.
8.Calculates and reports actual and projected sourcing savings by spend categories.
9.Result orientated, analytical, decisive, team and customer oriented, strong communicator and innovative.
Required Education:
Bachelor's degree in Science, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration or related field.
Preferred Education:
Master's degree in business, management, hospital administration, or related field.
Required Experience:
Three years professional experience in contracting and/or materials management.
Preferred Experience:
Experience in sourcing and contracting for Institutions of higher education and/or governmental entities. Facilities and construction experience a plus. Negotiation skills, excellent communication skills, innovation, detail oriented, self starter, ability to work in a high pace environment.
