The Bone Density Technician performs Bone Density scans of excellent quality. Your primary duties will include but are not limited to:
Maintaining documentation/database requirements to ensure that all technical data is entered timely and accurately.
Ensuring patients' comfort during and after the exam.
Analyzing scans and making preliminary interpretation of results.
Educating patients regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure understanding and cooperation.

Responsibilities:
- Performs and analyzes DXA scans.
- Produces images of optimal quality for interpretation with accuracy and without delay.
- Notifies management and takes proper action to address equipment malfunctions.
- Knowledgeable in acquiring, archiving, transmitting, and printing images via PACS.
- When applicable, knowledgeable in after hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork.
- Reports, immediately, any malfunctions to help desk and PACS Administrator.
- Knowledgeable in billing via RIS.
- Provides instruction/mentoring to new hires and Radiology students.
- Continually strives to learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation sessions.
- Participate in off-site community educational events.
- May be required to rotate through all imaging modalities, sites, and/or locations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education:
Certifications:
- Must be a Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(R) (ARRT), in good standing.
- Certification in Bone Densitometry (BD) required within one year of hire: R.T. (R) (BD) (ARRT).
- Certification as a Bone Densitometry Technologist (CBDT) through the International Society of Clinical Densitometry required within one year of hire.
- Current state licensure required prior to employment.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Complexity of Work:
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Work Experience:
- Minimum one year experience as a general Radiologic Technologist with BMD training preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
