Requirements / Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid California Pupil Personnel Services Credential with a specialization in either school counseling, or school social work, or school psychology and Child Welfare and Attendance
Master’s Degree
Served a minimum of two years experience in the K-12 school setting
Administrative credential/certificate of eligibility preferred
Preferred: Bilingual Spanish
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the Supervisor of Child Welfare and Attendance, a person holding this position shall have the responsibilities for managing pupil services and attendance including but not limited to the following:
Plan, coordinate and direct training and coaching for counselors at secondary schools to decrease chronic absenteeism
Collaborate with the Child Welfare and Attendance Supervisor and District Social Worker to provide social/emotional and behavioral support services for Foster and Homeless Youth
Review and monitor data related to District Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) priorities for Pupil Engagement and School Climate
Participate in and/or facilitate multi-disciplinary teams such as School Attendance Review Team, and School Attendance and Review Board to provide coordinated support and intervention.
REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of the California Education Codes related to Child, Welfare and Attendance
Knowledge of the function and services of community organizations, government agencies and youth-serving agencies
Knowledge of state and federal law and the Education Code, as it pertains to the rights of children and the obligations of a school district
Ability to conduct parent conferences, counseling sessions, and group meetings
Ability to work cooperatively with school employees, community organizations, government agencies and the public
