Required
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in communications, public administration, or a related field.
Six (6) years of progressively more responsible experience related to FOIA or FERPA data requests/processes and/or data collection and reporting for a large organization, some of which shall have been in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
Must successfully complete annual training from the Virginia FOIA Council.
Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal laws, specifically those governing the Virginia Freedom of Information Act (VFOIA) and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
Knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations related to public access to information.
Knowledge of FOIA and FERPA processing tools and platforms, such as SharePoint, Adobe, eDiscovery, Logickull, SmartFile, and/or ShareFile.
Skill in the design, development, and delivery of large and small group trainings.
Proficiency in the use of technology, data compilation, analysis, and reporting.
Ability to apply analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadline requirements.
Ability to exercise sound judgment and decision-making with an understanding of potential impact from action(s) taken.
Ability to effectively lead teams in multiple projects.
Ability to facilitate meetings and/or present information to groups.
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of employees.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to include complex and/or controversial topics.
Preferred
Bachelor's in communications, public policy, or public administration.
Experience working with public requests for information for an educational organization.
