EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree and/or GBA/CEBS certification preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum 7-10 years’ related experience compensation and/or benefits. Knowledge/experience in the following areas: compiling and analyzing large amounts of data, wellness programs, vendor implementation and management, employee benefit plan design, benefit compliance laws such as ERISA, ACA, ADA, COBRA, HIPAA, employee compensation program administration such as merit and incentive plans. Requires intermediate to advanced experience in applications such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitors eligibility, limitations, and restrictions of plan participations and ensures compliance with both plan provisions and government requirements for the 401(k) retirement and compensation plans.
- Provides guidance and counsel to employees, shared services (HR, IT, HRIS), and managers on the requirements and provisions of Total Rewards programs and assist with the resolution of potential problems.
- Develops, conducts, and participates in a variety of presentations to inform and education management and employees about changes to Total Rewards plans and administrative practices.
- Compiles, analyzes, and reports data including but not limited to monitoring claims for self-funded medical plan, industry data and participation data within all benefit programs to assist with the strategic planning and evaluation of all Total Rewards plans.
- Manages 401(k) retirement related activities such as day-to-day administration, vendor administration, electronic file transfers, employee education, coordinating with payroll to ensure proper deduction processing, audits, preparing for committee meetings and compliance.
- Assists in the management of the compensation plan including but not limited to completing and analyzing results from industry compensation surveys, benchmarking jobs against survey data to determine competitive compensation ranges for each position and administering the company’s merit and incentive programs.
- Assists with complex questions and is the point of escalation for all employee concerns regarding Total Rewards plans.
- Maintains a strong working knowledge of Total Rewards plan provisions and related legal requirements.
- Assists Benefits team on Annual Open Enrollment.
- Familiar with and adept in using internal and external enterprise system resources (e.g., PeopleSoft, BCBSTX eligibility systems, etc.)
- Position will require travel to various S&B offices and jobsite locations.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
The ability to read, analyze and interpret policies, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical bulletins, and government regulations is essential for this role. The ability to write reports, business correspondence, policies and procedures is also a requirement as is the ability to effectively deliver oral presentations and to respond to questions from groups of managers, engineers, clients, and suppliers. Job success often hinges upon interpersonal communication and relationship development skills, and job tasks require frequent interchange and successful completion depends in large part upon effective interaction and communication with others.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Position requires the ability to calculate figures and work with fractions and percentages, as well as to apply concepts such as ratios, probability, statistical inference, and proportions to practical situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Position requires the ability to hear normal conversation, see near objects and speak clearly. Occasionally may participate in a field trip to a job site which requires the ability to stand, walk, reach, climb, sit and balance. Lifting to 25 pounds unassisted may be required at times.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Normally will work in an office environment, but occasionally may visit a construction site in an operating plant with proximity to operating machinery and exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, fumes, and airborne particle.
