Job Accountabilities
As a key member of our Operations Team, the IBM – i Computer Operator will be responsible for: •Perform backups using BRMS batch processing via the AS/400(IBM – i) job scheduler or upon request. All backup processing is done within the Dell/EMC DD6300 Virtual tape library. The management of Virtual tapes confirming the backups have ran to completion and confirming expiration dates are correct for both the U.S. & Europe. •Monitoring system console for messages and ensure successful completion of scheduled tasks. •Knowledge of Halcyon (Help Systems), this product is used for monitoring error conditions on all AS/400( IBM – i) system partitions 24/7. This includes reviewing system console messages, emails, system alerts via Halcyon and monitoring the QSYSOPR message queue. • Provide first level support to end users having issues with connectivity to servers, AS/400( IBM – i), devices, printers, automated batch jobs, user profile and password issues. •Open appropriate help desk tickets for various departments and escalate issues that need immediate attention to the on-call person. • Maintain and follow-up for the printing of Invoices from the nightly Billing Job to be distributed to the correct person. • Ability to communicate effectively with peers and leadership in a team-focused environment. •Maintain the physical security of the computer systems. •Ensures strict adherence to all Information Services policies and procedures. •Has the ability to spot problems as they occur and ensure proper steps are taken to resolve those problems. •Special assignments and projects will be completed as required by the business. •Knowledge of MIMIX( Precisely). •Provide support with Vology, our Third-Party Network Monitoring Service with issues that may happen within our Plants and Warehouses on Off Hour Shifts. This will involve calling the network person on-call for support.

The ideal professional for this position will possess the following: •2+ years experience in AS/400(IBM – i) Computer Operations •The ability to monitor the system using AS/400(IBM - i) commands is essential •Degree or Technical training is a plus •Superb oral and written communication skills •Must be able to work independently or as part of a team •Must be willing to float and cover different shifts during Vacations, Personal Holidays, Company Holidays & Sick Time.
