What We're Looking For The City of Beverly Hills is seeking qualified candidates for Water System Worker I or Water System Worker II (dependent on qualifications). The incumbent of this position will be working in the Public Works Department and will be reporting to the Water System Supervisor. The incumbent will assist with field maintenance, the installation of water system facilities, and the repair and replacement of storage and distribution facilities.
Water System Worker I Job Description Salary Range: $63,119.79 - $78,193.37 Annually Water System Worker II Job Description Salary Range: $74,753.89 - $92,605.97 Annually

Inspect wells, reservoirs, booster stations, pumping facilities, and water meters; inspect, test and operate valves, fittings and related water distribution equipment.
Operate, install, maintain, repair, replace or remove water meters, utility vaults, valves, hydrants and other equipment; cut, lay, fit and repair water mains and pipes; install domestic customer water services; flow test related equipment; locate and mark underground water pipes; excavate and repair water lines to ensure water delivery; flush water mains and hydrants.
Operate construction equipment and various hand and power tools to perform installations, maintenance and repairs to the City’s water distribution system; break and remove asphalt; excavate and backfill trenches; pour and finish concrete; and install cold patch on asphalt.
Read meters, gauges, maps and flow charts to ensure water flow delivery and supply is adequate and safe; turn pumps on and off; adjust water flows.
Respond to emergencies and repair water main breaks, sheared off, fire hydrants, leaks and to turn on or off water meters.
Clean, wash, and disinfect water distribution system equipment and facilities.
Minimum Qualifications
Water System Worker I
Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience: Some responsible water distribution maintenance experience is desirable.
Education: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
Possession of a valid California Class C (or higher) driver’s license or out of state equivalent.
Possession of a valid California Class B driver’s license within 12 months of employment.
Possession of a valid State of California Water Resources Control Board Grade D1 Distribution Operator certificate.
Water System Worker II
Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience: Two years of responsible experience similar to a Water System Worker I with the City of Beverly Hills.
Education: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
Possession of a valid California Class B driver’s license or out of state equivalent.
Possession of a valid State of California Water Resources Control Board Grade D2 Distribution Operator certificate.
Possession of a Cla-Val Maintenance certification or equivalent automated control valve maintenance course.
