The opportunity
Vir Biotechnology, Inc. is looking for a Senior Manager, Medical Affairs, Congress & Event Planning (Temporary) to support engagement with external advisors, congress event planning and professional societies. You will establish and maintain open dialogue with important external partners to ensure Vir's continued presence at EASL/AASLD, negotiate sponsorship packages and contracts that fit the needs of Vir. You will contribute to daily medical affairs activities to support HDV and HBV. You will report to the Senior Director of Medical Affairs.
You will deliver face-to-face, hybrid, and virtual meeting and event planning services that are cost-effective and deliver value to Vir for global congress & conferences. You will work across all departments to oversee execution and delivery of Vir's global meetings and events. This includes demand management; meeting planning for conferences, and ancillary meetings/events; advisory boards, investigator meetings and external meeting management company oversight; preferred venue compliance; budget and reconciliation; business analytics; and compliance reporting.
You will contribute and build the broader congress strategy for Vir and evolving virtual delivery channels within the congress and conferences.
This is an onsite position in our San Francisco headquarters.
What you'll do
- Provide conference project management, including logistics, meeting space, hotel reservations (housing block), conference registrations, travel arrangements, special events at congresses, such as dinners and advisory boards
- Be the relationship manager to external agencies, including Professional Medical Associations
- Maintain and follow Vir's standard operating procedures relating to medical affairs.
- Contracting (advisors, agencies, sponsorships)
- Oversee congress/conference budgets and reconciliations
- Promote innovation, value generation, and share best practice across all departments
- Be the partner and subject matter expert to advise senior leaders across all departments on meetings and events strategy
- Work with the Medical affairs department to support capability development of congress and conference planning
- Ensure success of virtual/hybrid digital transformation and delivery with an understanding of Security and Digital Assessments policies
Who you are and what you bring
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in the US or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience in congress management, knowledge of pharmaceutical congress industry, codes and practices in US and EU
- Demonstrated experience working with external suppliers and virtual and hybrid events
- Knowledge of global pharmaceutical market and understanding of external partners including physicians, payers and patients
- This role includes national and international travel

Who we are and what we offer
The expected salary range for this position is $138,000.00 to $190,000.00. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors.
