With limited direction, this position participates with management and engineering/scienti?c teams to establish objectives, plans, and timelines for the development of comprehensive technical documents such as procedure manuals, operational speci?cations, training manuals, presentations, articles, and related technical publications.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reviews document speci?cations and may negotiate speci?cations with customer(s).
Coordinates with management and customer(s) to ensure ?nal document(s) clearly and e?ectively communicate the technical information and data to the customer's targeted audience(s). Provides input in the development of and monitors the implementation of technical documentation policies, practices, and standards.
May serve as a spokesperson on technical documentation and may participate with technical team(s) to resolve technical/operational issues. Functions in a leadership role providing direction and guidance to professional or technical sta?.
May make recommendations to management on short- and long-term planning.
Coordinates with management and the customer to determine appropriate timelines, content, and format for the development of comprehensive engineering/scienti?c technical documents.
Develops detailed plans, statements of work, cost estimates and proposals for technical document production.
Coordinates aspects of preparing technical documents, including editing, to meet speci?ed content and deadlines, including changes/modi?cations.
Coordinates the identi?cation, accumulation, and analysis of appropriate technical information and data, including interviewing technical experts, observing processes, and researching and analyzing technical data and publications.
May participate with engineering/scienti?c teams to resolve technical/operational issues.
Serves as a specialist to management and customer by participating in technical documentation reviews and making customer related presentations as required.
May coordinate reproduction, release, distribution, and appropriate storage of documents.
May represent the organization as a primary contact on assigned project(s).
May recommend new and/or modi?cations to documentation policies and procedures.
Provides guidance in the document security classi?cation process.
Provides guidance and training to teams of experienced technical professionals.
Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating practices and procedures.

Typically requires education or formal training equivalent to the completion of an Associate's degree in a technical discipline and ten or more years of professional engineering/scienti?c/military technical experience and/or professional in-depth engineering/scienti?c/technical/military documentation experience.
In addition, must have two or more years of management/customer interface. Equivalent experience may be substituted in lieu of education/training.
Must demonstrate a comprehensive and thorough understanding of the engineering/scienti?c principles underlying the technology and a comprehensive and thorough understanding of technical document preparation.
Must have excellent working knowledge of the development of technical manuals and documentation, including editing and choice of media. Must also have excellent working knowledge of computer-based tools in the production of technical documentation.
Must possess:
