The Senior. Director of Project Management partners with the senior Research, Clinical Research, Development Operations, Regulatory Affairs and Global Marketing Leaders to lead the Product Strategy Teams (PST) to successfully shape and execute drug development strategies for all pre-IND to Phase 2 programs. The Senior Director, Project Management is accountable for the cross-functional planning and execution of programs including definition of the operational strategies, management of timelines, cost, quality, and risk assessment and mitigation. This project management position provides an important voice to shape the overall early-stage pipeline strategy and drive optimal decisions for the broader portfolio value.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and independently manage key pre-IND to Phase 2 programs to the approved IND and/or Development Plan, program timeline and approved annual budget
- Lead and facilitate effective Product Strategy Team meetings, including the creation of effective meeting agendas and clear documentation of key issues for discussion, decisions made and assigned action items.
- Partner with Research, Clinical and Commercial team leaders to develop recommendations for risk mitigation, prioritization and stage gate progression for formal presentation at Portfolio Committee
- Partner with Clinical and Development Operations team leaders to ensure high performing clinical Study Operating Teams.
- Establish critical path analyses and support scenario planning
- Identify organizational gaps and influences the Product Strategy Team members to address gaps that impact program goals; ensure timely identification and escalation/resolution of issues to senior management.
- Effectively utilize Project Management tools including MS Project, ensuring standardization across departments, functions and collaborators

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required (scientific or healthcare discipline preferred) with 12+ years’ experience in project management with strong pharmaceutical drug development experience including multiple IND and Phase I/II experience in small molecule development required
- MBA or advanced degree a plus
- Previous experience in a program management role within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry is required. Previous supervisory experience is highly preferred
- Must have strong analytical and interpersonal communication skills
- Experience with the development, deployment and maintenance of project management tools and customized project templates (MS Project, SharePoint, OnePager Pro)
- Experience in maintaining integrated global development plans
- Experience with planning and oversight of program budgets
- Demonstrated success in a matrix management environment
- Computer Skills: SharePoint, Word, Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint
- PMI certification is a plus but not required
Actual salary at the time of hire may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant qualifications, skills, and experience, as well as the service line and location where this position may be filled.
Salary Pay Range
$261,000—$319,000 USD
