Atara is a global leader in the development of allogeneic off-the-shelf cellular therapy products for patients with life-threatening diseases. The Information Technology group seeks Director, to provide technical leadership and be the IT point of contact for Atara Corporate and R&D (Cell Selection) Applications, Data & Business Process Management Platforms, and Manufacturing CMO. This role will design & develop and manage all cross-functional deliverables and stakeholder commitments required to support and maintain the IT landscape around these applications and platforms. This role will define and deliver Atara IT R&D Cell Selection Modules, support corporate applications in HR & Legal/Compliance areas, implement enterprise Data & Business Process Management Platform strategy and roadmap, Manufacturing CMO, implement and evolve system SDLC, provide technical support, establish IT support model and ensure the delivery of IT capabilities.

Travel May be required up to 15% with potential for international travel

Responsibilities:

• Under the direction of the Senior Director, IT the incumbent’s duties and responsibilities include variations, but are not limited to the items below, depending upon the Business need.
• Own product vision for how the information technology platform integrates across our business, driving end-to-end product development and roadmap initiatives.
• Drive execution in collaboration with R&D Cell Selection group, Corporate Applications (HR, Legal/Compliance), enterprise Data & Business Process Management Platforms, Manufacturing CMO and IT. Identifying and translating pain points into elegant platform solutions.
• Resource planning to ensure appropriate staffing and service provider expertise within Atara. Manage vendor engagements to direct software engineers, analysts, project managers, designers, and QA to deliver optimal technology solutions.
• Research and propose technology solutions that are flexible, scalable, and fiscally reasonable to department leadership.
• Analyze outcomes of product development, systematize learnings, and share them effectively with the organization which may require additional context to software development lifecycles.
• Continually find ways to iterate and make our product experiences better with operational efficiencies, analyzing metrics and gathering feedback from internal and external stakeholders.
• Actively conduct research and define the needs of our business and partners in a structured way by applying qualitative and quantitative research.
• Budget recommendations from technology development standpoint.
• Training of staff on technology solutions supporting R&D Cell Selection group, corporate functions (HR, Legal/Compliance), Enterprise Data & Business Process Management Platforms, Manufacturing CMO activities. Ensuring Work Instructions and training material related to technology solutions are created and maintained up to date.
• Applies expertise in regulatory GxP computer software validation practices and associated change management methodologies to improve Atara Bio’s Cell Therapy Platform as well as Business Process Management platform.
• Ensures that any new software integration into R&D Cell Selection Platform, Corporate Applications (HR, Legal/Compliance), Enterprise Data and Business Process Management Platforms, Manufacturing CMO Platform meets functional requirements, system compliance, and interface specifications.
• Collaborates with analysts, designers, and business process owners, and system owners in the testing of new software capabilities within the R&D Cell Selection platform, Corporate Applications (HR, Legal/Compliance), Enterprise Data and Business Process Management Platforms, and Manufacturing CMO platforms.
• Works with Information System staff to ensure system(s) will fit into existing infrastructure and meets Atara Bio standards for hardware/software systems.
• Provide technical leadership to project managers, business analysts and programmers working on application/data analytics project teams.
• Cultivates, disseminates, and enforces functional policies, procedures, and quality assurance best practices.
• Recommends, schedules, and manages software improvements, patches, upgrades, and/or purchases.

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science, Business Process Management, or related field.
• 12+ years of relevant work experience (large and small company experiences).
• 9+ years of technology product management (healthcare/pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry a plus).
• Experience working in a heavily regulated environment. Experience with medical device regulation, 510(k) Submission, GMP and GCP standards highly desirable.
• Solid understanding of SaaS and Cloud technologies, user experience design patterns, and the innate curiosity and desire to learn more.
• Experience implementing application solutions on Sales Force/AWS/Appian platform desirable.
• Experience implementing Data & Analysis Platforms for the enterprise.
• Experience implementing Business Process Management Platforms for the enterprise desirable.
• Experience implementing platforms and integration solutions for Manufacturing applications.
• Familiarity around IT skills of Data Dashboards, Data compliance & security concepts, desirable.
• Proven ability to research, collect and analyze complex information to use in determining product options or alternatives including hypothesis driven decisions.
• Experience in solving problems in dynamic environments and regulated industries which contributes to the long-range success of the product.
• Experience presenting to and working with leadership teams, demonstrating excellent written and verbal communication skills.
