Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
Plan, organize and coordinate program operations for juvenile and adult Probation populations.
Develop, evaluate and monitor Probation program budgets and ensure proper administrative and financial controls.
Build and maintain professional rapport with a variety of stakeholders including, but not limited to, public and private agencies, community organizations and professional groups.
Knowledge of principles and practices of current Probation policy, potential sources of funding, laws/regulations and contract negotiation.
Develop and implement programs in accordance with department and State mandated requirements.
Develop, evaluate and monitor program objectives and goals.
Develop program proposals for new and continued funding, monitor expenditures and activities and complete all required reporting.
Design programs for applicable populations for performance-based outcomes.
Review and prepare applicable programmatic analysis of proposed and current legislation and regulations as directed.
Use the internet and other technology to research, exchange information, and update on-line sites and social media platforms.
Write proposals including program goals for contract proposals.
Plan, organize and direct the department in-service education program.
Supervise, evaluate and train program and support staff.
Research and understand social, economic and equity issues impacting populations and program areas.
Attend training conferences relevant to current Probation policies, programs, and legislation.
Establish and maintain liaisons between the Probation Department and other public and private agencies, community organizations, and professional groups.
May recruit volunteers for existing/additional programs.
Assists in preparing the facility for inspections as it relates to program.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience: Three (3) years of professional level experience providing program services in a criminal justice, substance abuse treatment, child welfare, or related organization. Experience working in social services, law enforcement or related field and direct supervision of law enforcement/probation staff is highly desired. (A Master's degree in behavioral sciences or a related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience).
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, behavioral sciences or related field.
License: Possess a valid California driver's license at time of appointment and maintain.
