Job Summary
Oberlin College and Conservatory seeks a talented and creative Marketing Copywriter to join the Office of Communications. This is an in-person, 12-month, full-time administrative and professional staff appointment reporting to the Director of Content and Social Media Strategy and a key content team member.
Responsibilities
As a marketing copywriter, you will play a key role in crafting compelling and engaging brand-aligned content that celebrates the distinctive qualities of our institution and meets our key audiences across a multi-channel content approach. You will work closely within the content team and with key campus partners to ensure materials align with the brand voice, values, and marketing objectives.
Essential Job Functions
Content Creation
Develop high-quality, original written materials for various formats and channels, including website, social media, email, and print materials.
Collaborate with staff, faculty, students, and other team members to gather information and insights for content creation.
Tell captivating stories highlighting the campus community’s achievements, milestones, and distinctive aspects, creating a strong connection with each defined audience.
Ensure content aligns with the college’s brand voice, values, and marketing objectives.
Exercise SEO best practices with web and social content publication.
Collaboration
Work closely with the Communications and Admissions teams to align content with recruitment goals and support enrollment initiatives.
Collaborate with content creators, designers, videographers, and other team members to create multimedia content that enhances the overall content strategy.
Research
Conduct thorough research on higher education trends, industry best practices, and competitor content to stay informed and innovative.
Utilize data and insights to create content that resonates with defined audiences and addresses their needs and interests.
Editing and Proofreading:
Ensure all content is grammatically correct, well-structured, and adheres to the college style guide.
Edit and proofread content for clarity, coherence, and consistency.
Marginal Job Functions
Required Qualifications
Five or more years of relevant experience
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Marketing, or related field
Proven experience as a content writer for marketing efforts
Exceptional writing and editing skills with a keen attention to detail
Strong ability to translate complex information into accessible content
Enjoy a collaborative and team-oriented environment
Desired Qualifications
Experience in higher education or a related field

Compensation
Within the range established for this position, salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and includes an excellent benefits package.
