The Server Storage Engineer II provides technical direction within the team and across the Information Systems department. Assists peers and mentors less experienced team members through the application and sharing of technical knowledge, guidance and direction. Synthesizes analysis, identifies root causes, develops and recommends key work products. Delivers technical solutions for Computer Systems hardware and software, Operating systems, services, and applications. Leads complex evaluation, development, implementation, integration and administration of internal and external business solutions. Provides insight to management on issues. Supports the mission, vision, values and strategic goals of Keck Medicine of USC.
Minimum Education:
• Bachelor Science in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience
Minimum Experience/Knowledge:
• 4+ years of relevant business support and/or information technology support experience
o 9 years of relevant business support and/or information technology support experience if no Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• Working knowledge of designing, installing, maintaining and configuring enterprise services infrastructure and applications based on Microsoft Windows Server and VMware.
• Requires a maturing level of analytical ability to find solutions to increasingly difficult technical or administrative problems, to determine economic feasibility or options available, and to assess time involved in system changes. Thorough documentation skills are also required
• Must be able to demonstrate experience with VMWare, Windows Server Operating System, storage systems, data retention, hardware facilities and experience with system design, capacity planning and capacity management
• Requires hands-on expertise with VMware, Windows Server, backup and restore application, and enterprise storage systems. Nutanix and / or Isilon experience is a plus.
• Must be able to communicate the impact and solutions of application/system problems in business language
• Requires a professional approach in all situations
• Ability to work any hours to support 24/7 operations
• Must resolve problems entirely by either completing the work or gathering all of the resources needed for ultimate resolution and continuity of problem management
• Availability to travel between Keck Medicine of USC, USC, and other facilities.
Required License/Certification:
• LA City Fire and Safety Certification. If no certification upon hire, must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date.
• VMware Certified Associate (VCA) certificate preferred
• Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP) certificate preferred
