The Equipment Engineer is responsible for providing high quality DNA microarrays, which are one of the core components of the consumable diagnostic platform being developed at Cepheid. In this role you will have the opportunity to influence the development of improved processes and to work cross-functionally across different departments and projects
This position is part of the Biochip Operations unit and will be located in Newark.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Fabrication of high-precision DNA microarray components in a manufacturing facility cleanroom.
- Operation/maintenance/validation of sophisticated automation equipment.
- Assist Equipment owners determine the appropriate maintenance information for their processes through the evaluation of equipment specifications and provide trainings.
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing different types of processing and lab equipment
- Collaborate across disciplines to deliver critical consumables to internal customers and inclusive of an approachable and credible communication style.
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering preferred) or equivalent experience
- Three (3) or more years of professional experience (preferably in a manufacturing
- Understanding of current manufacturing processes and best practices (equipment, robotics, non-conformance procedures, etc.)
- Experience building, updating, and changing manufacturing routings and work instructions
- Experience identifying and implementing improvements to processes, fixtures, jigs, and

- Experience in working with validated and qualified process equipment and systems, and associated documentation with a good understanding of technical installations, process equipment, facilities and computerized systems within an industrial manufacturing or regulated environment.

The salary range for this role is $126,000-$157,000. This is the range that we, in good faith, believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
