EchoStar has an exciting opportunity for an Accounts Payable (AP) Manager in our Hughes Network Systems division. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the accounts payable function within the organization. This includes managing the AP team, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments, and maintaining strong vendor relationships. The AP Manager will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes, implement best practices, and drive operational efficiency. This position will be located at our office in Germantown, MD.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and lead the accounts payable team, providing guidance, performance feedback, and coaching to ensure high-quality work and professional development.
- Oversee the end-to-end accounts payable process, including invoice verification, coding, approval routing, and daily payment processing.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions related to accounts payable in the company's financial system (SAP).
- Monitor and analyze AP metrics and key performance indicators to identify improvement opportunities and drive process efficiency.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as procurement, finance, and operations, to streamline processes, implement automation, and enhance controls.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and ensure timely resolution vendor inquiries or issues.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as relevant financial regulations and standards.
- Prepare and review AP-related reports, reconciliations, and analyses for management and auditing purposes.
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements in accounts payable, recommending and implementing relevant improvements.
- Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives, representing the accounts payable function and contributing to overall financial performance.
- Oversee month-end close processing, including vendor invoice accruals, estimated accruals and accounts payable general ledger account reconciliations.
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years in accounts payable function
- Prior experience managing a team
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an Accounts Payable Manager or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of accounts payable principles, processes, and best practices.
- Proficient in using ERP systems and AP automation tools (SAP preferred)
- Solid understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
- Prior experience in leading and developing a team.
- Professional certifications (e.g., Certified Accounts Payable Professional) are a plus.
Will be eligible for discretionary bonus, with funding based on company performance.
