The Fire Sprinkler Technician 2 is responsible for conducting thorough inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems in various residential, commercial, and industrial settings. This position ensures that fire sprinkler systems are in proper working order, compliant with safety regulations, and capable of detecting and alerting occupants in the event of a fire emergency. The Fire Sprinkler Technician works closely with clients, building owners, and other stakeholders to ensure the reliability and functionality of fire alarm systems.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Inspection and Testing:
Conduct routine inspections and functional tests on fire alarm systems, including control panels, detectors, horns, strobes, and other system components.
Use testing equipment and tools to verify the proper functioning of fire alarm devices and systems.
Identify and troubleshoot issues, such as faulty wiring, defective components, or system malfunctions.
Perform visual inspections to ensure compliance with fire safety codes and standards.
Maintenance and Repairs:
Carry out preventive maintenance tasks, including cleaning, calibration, and adjustment of fire alarm system components.
Replace faulty or outdated components, such as detectors, batteries, wiring, and control panels.
Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs performed.
Respond to emergency repair requests and conduct troubleshooting to resolve system failures.
Compliance and Documentation:
Ensure fire alarm systems meet local, state, and national fire safety regulations and codes.
Maintain accurate documentation of inspections, tests, repairs, and system upgrades.
Assist with preparing reports and submitting documentation to relevant authorities as required.
Stay updated on current fire alarm system technologies, codes, and standards to ensure compliance and recommend system improvements.
Client Interaction and Communication:
Communicate effectively with clients, building owners, and other stakeholders regarding inspection findings, repair recommendations, and system status.
Provide guidance and training to clients on the proper use and maintenance of fire alarm systems.
Address client inquiries, concerns, and service requests promptly and professionally.
Team Collaboration:
Collaborate with other technicians and team members to coordinate inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
Assist in the installation and commissioning of new fire alarm systems as needed.
Participate in training programs and stay updated on industry best practices.

Education and Experience:
High School Diploma/ GED (required) with 5 years of experience
Certifications
Possess NICET II in Water Based Systems Inspection & Testing II or pass NICET II exam within 90 days of employment
Physical and Personal Requirements
Lift at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period.
Relocate a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.
Work at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and all types of ladders.
Walk, climb, lift, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull and reach overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.

Advanced troubleshooting including researching online, system manuals to resolve problems.
Knowledge of NFPA 72, NEC, Fire Alarm System Theory, OSHA Requirements, and Industry Standards for Fire Alarm systems installation.
