The Quality and Technical Services team, located in Uhrichsville, is seeking a Lab Tech. This role is responsible for providing quality service and support to the Uhrichsville Recycling facility (UHR) and interna/external customers in the areas of metallurgical, chemistry and purchases of Quality Control operating supplies. This also includes following established procedures and providing necessary feedback to appropriate personnel when out-of-control conditions are found from specific tests or required information is needed. In addition, tasks are performed in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.
Core Accountabilities:
- Collects and analyzes samples of aluminum product to monitor quality and conformance to
- Tracks storage of molten and ingot
- Prepares charts to track quality of material during processing.
- Investigates and resolves all chemistry problems and deviations from standards.
- Purchases quality control and operating supplies on an as needed basis.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Education and Experience
High school diploma or general, education degree (GED) and one to two years
Experience directly related experience; or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
Required Skills
Basic knowledge and proficiency in general business and/or function specific software programs. Ability to read, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Preferred Skills
Previous analytical instrumentation and laboratory experience helpful. Ability to operate powered equipment.

Must possess strong decision making and problem solving skills including the ability to solve problems while exhibiting practical judgment and realistic understanding of the issues involved. Must be able to overcome obstacles and find reasonable resolutions to situations on a case by case basis as encountered. Must have the ability and confidence to make decisions relating to role's accountabilities. Must exercise discretion when determining if direction from manager is needed
Analytical Thinking
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must be able to recognize data needed in order to make decisions, collect that data, and analyze in order to determine direction in which to proceed. If issue is beyond authority level or scope of work, must recommend plan of action to manager in order to proceed
