JOB OVERVIEW:
The BCBA Clinical Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the overall clinical and administrative supervision of The Center for Autism’s IBHS Applied Behavior Analysis designated team including BCBAs, Licensed Behavior Consultants, Behavioral Health Technicians/Registered Behavior Technicians, and the ABA Operations Manager. The Supervisor leads the team in providing ABA treatment with adherence to the clinical model and regulatory policies and procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Be responsible for the clinical supervision of BCBAs, LBCs, and BHT/RBTs, clinically as it relates to ABA adherence/quality and administratively as it relates to paperwork submission, quality of paperwork, training attendance, and supervision sessions.
Assign BCBAs, LBCs, and BHT/RBTs to cases. Monitor that assignments are appropriate. When a problem arises, take corrective action including reassignment as indicated.
Conduct group and individual clinical supervision, both in the office and in the field, on a regular basis in accordance with CBH ABA designation performance standards and state IBHS regulations.
Provide ABA treatment in the community to children assigned to the team when there is a staff shortage.
Track and monitor the submission of treatment plans to ensure compliance with the established procedures.
Review treatment plans, progress notes, and data collection to ensure quality, timeliness, and compliance with format adherence to the ABA model as outlined in CBH performance standards.
Collaborate with and address any concerns from parents, CBH, schools, and the agency/administration.
Track and monitor the status of cases to ensure that authorizations are current.
Communicate consistently and effectively with BCBAs, LBCs, and BHT/RBTs regarding the status of authorizations (i.e., hours, location, and timeframe of authorization). Document all communications with staff accurately.
Ensure that all cases are monitored to ensure the billable status of services.
Convene team meetings to provide crisis intervention when situations arise.
Assess and implement standardized assessment and supervision tools that are aligned with CBH ABA performance standards.
Develop and monitor staff training plans to ensure compliance with CBH ABA performance standards. Lead BHT staff through RBT training requirements to get them certified as RBTs within 6 months of hire.
Ensure compliance with all of PHMC’s policies and procedures, including confidentiality and acting as a mandated reporter in accordance with the law.
Participate in and complete all CBH mandatory in-services. These trainings must be completed within 3 months of hire and annually from the date of the initial training.
Participate in at least 10 hours of documented Continuing Education Units (additional in-service) per year (“year” is defined as twelve months after the date of hire).
Provide backup coverage and support for supervisory duties in the absence of another assigned Clinical Supervisor.
Staff Leadership
Foster a strengths-based, trauma-informed, accountable, committed, and motivated environment.
Establish and hold direct reports responsible for creating a climate that attracts, retains, and motivates high performance and adherence to the ABA treatment model.
Ensure the caliber of diverse staff with skills appropriate to meet the needs of those served.
Hold staff responsible for their tasks and provide constructive supervision for all direct reports including ongoing performance feedback.
Model PHMC’s core competencies, holding staff accountable to do the same.
Mentor and develop direct reports to ensure a core team that is focused on meeting the priorities of the program.
Team Leadership
Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with all internal and external stakeholders.
Cooperate and communicate as a multi-disciplinary staff team member through formal meetings, informal consultations, and committee participation.
Model traits of a responsible team member by executing job responsibilities, open communication, and good follow-through. Support team members to do the same.
Demonstrate use and support of the trauma-informed model in all aspects of employment including interactions with clients/students, family members, other employees, community members, and stakeholders.
Respond promptly to the concerns and interests of clients, parents, guardians, funding entities, and other PHMC staff.
Participate in leadership development alongside other program leaders within the department of Community Mental Health.
Participate in regular meetings with staff to ensure priorities are clear, coordination is good, and communication is open. Develop additional methods for ongoing effective communication.
Partnerships and Collaborative Relationships
Establish and maintain relationships with provider organizations, regulatory and licensing representatives, and referral sources, establishing effective and productive working relationships while promoting PHMC.
Represent the organization before various stakeholder groups to maintain visibility.
Manage regulatory and accreditation contracts.
Serve on various committees. Attend and participate in committee meetings.
Trauma-Informed Behavior
Demonstrate commitment to being trauma-informed and maintaining a therapeutic environment and community that promotes safety and nonviolence as the basis for all we do with clients and staff.
Demonstrate knowledge and utilization of trauma-informed practices including emotional intelligence, effective communication, understanding of the impact of trauma on development, strengths-based and person-centered practice, resilience focus, and commitment to growth and change.
Administrative Activities
Implement all documentation requirements. Ensure that reports are complete, thorough, timely, and written in the prescribed format. Ensure that staff members do the same.
Perform other duties as assigned.
SKILLS:
Ability to utilize and facilitate a collaborative and team-oriented approach
Expertise in Applied Behavior Analysis
Knowledge and understanding of CASSP Principles, behavior modification, social/ecological theory and application, family systems theory and application, cognitive-behavioral theory and clinical application, and child and family development
Crisis intervention and management skills
Knowledge of the current DSM
Basic knowledge/understanding of common psychotropic medications
Experience working with and supervising diverse populations
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to diverse audiences and in diverse venues
Ability to hire and develop a caliber staff capable of providing high-quality services, accountable to job responsibilities, and motivated to achieve high performance
Strong computer skills in all Microsoft Office applications including data management skills
Ability to resolve complex problems and issues
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of two years of verified post-master's experience providing mental health treatment (psychotherapy, counseling, and assessment) to children and adolescents
