The Department of Pediatrics at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center (formerly Saint Barnabas Medical Center) provides exceptional medical care and the best possible hospital experience for children and their families. In all areas of inpatient and outpatient pediatric services, we care for your children as if they were our own.
We offer the expertise of a specialized team of physicians, including neonatologists, pediatric critical care physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, Child Life coordinators, social workers and all other health care professionals dedicated to the well-being of the patients we serve.
The Pediatrics department offers virtually every major pediatric subspecialty service ranging from allergy and cardiology to pulmonology and infectious diseases, as well as surgical specialty areas from craniofacial and orthopedic surgery to neurosurgery and plastic surgery. The attending staff includes more than 250 pediatric practitioners, and an integrated residency program with the Children’s Hospital of New Jersey at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing
- Minimum (2) two years recent/current experience in specialty required
- Completion of all orientation requirements by Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center.
- Successful completion of all Orientation programs required by Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center
Preferred:
- Baccalaureate degree in Nursing
Certifications and Licenses Required:
- Active Registered Nurse License in the state of New Jersey
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
- NRP certification
- PALS certification
- Must have I.V. certification and pass test upon hire
- Must have Cardiac Rhythm certificate and pass test upon hire
- 4 total contact hours of stroke continuing education from current year (must have certifications)
Scheduling Requirements:
Essential Functions:
Organize and administers individualized age specific professional care to patients within an assigned unit of the hospital in support of medical care. Supports philosophy, objectives and the mission and vision of Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center and the Department of Nursing. Practices in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act, American Nurses Association Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics for Nurses, Department of Health Regulations, TJC requirements and other regulatory agencies. Participates in patient teaching and discharge planning. Participates in Unit Performance Improvement evaluation activities.
