Job Description Summary:
This position has a significant level of spend responsibility, oversees and manages approximately $70M - $100M million per year of services with categories of medium-to-high complexity and risk, and will provide strategic decision support and recommendations to non-clinical stakeholders to maximize and ensure the value of contracts and supplier performance. The Category Manager is responsible for owning and optimizing the assigned spend categories via extensive cross-functional collaboration and mastery of all total cost of ownership (TCO)/strategic sourcing best practices including the responsibilities outlined under the “MAJOR DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS” section.

The Category Manager is responsible for owning and optimizing the assigned spend categories via extensive cross-functional collaboration and mastery of all total cost of ownership (TCO)/strategic sourcing best practices.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field; 7-10 years of sourcing, negotiations, and relationship management experience
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE
Degree in related field such as business administration, finance, supply chain management, or related discipline; with bachelor’s degree, a minimum of 7-10 years related experience required of progressive RF(x), sourcing, negotiating and contracting experience, including extensive experience developing and executing strategic plans. With master’s degree, a minimum of 7 years’ experience related experience acceptable. Must possess excellent communication and relationship building skills at multiple levels of the organization. Ability to prepare and present presentations and financial analysis to leaders. Ability to facilitate teams to successful resolution of challenging issues. strong influencing skills to lead to best practices, standardization, and support of culture. Mentors and coaches peers to aid associate and team development and ensure departmental and organizational objectives are met. Must be a skilled negotiator with a proven ability to move negotiations forward to a best and final offer in the designated time frame for the project; must be skilled at presenting in a live environment and achieving agreement with others, with a demonstrated ability to maintain grace under pressure in difficult negotiations. Ability to manage relationships and possess understanding of service level agreements and KPIs. Demonstrated success at building and maintaining efficient and effective relationships. Must possess a solid understanding of Strategic Sourcing, Contracting, and Value Analysis fundamentals, competitive bidding, negotiations, supplier and contract lifecycle management, business case development, leading and facilitating teams, change management skills, financial analysis, building positive relationships, redlining agreements, and ability to read, analyze and negotiate high-level contracts. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Excel and PowerPoint; data analysis, business case development, Workday ERP system. Extensive experience developing and executing strategic sourcing plans.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Category Management
· Develop, implement, and prioritize strategic plans for assigned spend categories addressing cost drivers using contracting, competitive bidding, utilization, standardization, sku reduction, and financial analysis strategies to meet value based targets
· May coordinate vendor transition including implementation plan development, creates launch strategies and assists with training initiatives as required
· Aggregate and analyze usage across OhioHealth enterprise, analyze service usage patterns in order to make recommendations for eliminating waste and/or reduction of usage for cost savings
· Work jointly with suppliers and internal clients to improve integrated processes
· Facilitates cross-functional agreement to standardize services such that Total Cost of Ownership TCO is minimized but quality is maintained
· Supports standards for diversity supplier sustainability programs
· Enhance supply chain performance by benchmarking and implementing best practices
· Provide status reports related to category activities to Supply Chain Leadership and others
Strategic Sourcing and Contract Management
· Proactively manage contracting efforts for custom contracts, GPO contracts, local contracts
· Develop and lead cross-functional team-based bid processes, decision making, standardization and consolidation efforts
· Lead the development of sourcing strategies for key projects, utilizing appropriate sourcing tools, aligning key business stakeholder needs, identifying supply alternatives and recommending the appropriate sourcing approach, and establishing the project plan/timeline to deliver an effective sourcing solution
· Negotiate pricing and contract terms with the goal of a win/win relationship
· Support guidelines for supplier relationship management
· Follow prescribed processes for use of contract lifecycle management tool(s)
Relationship management and Project Management
· Build professional, effective, collaborative relationships with internal customers including physician and clinical leaders, supply chain colleagues, process partners and suppliers
· Lead cross-functional stakeholders through fact/evidence-based, data-driven initiatives with strong market and competitive analysis, creation of leverage, and professional negotiations to secure the best quality, service and cost to meet OhioHealth’s needs
· Advocate and enforce the OhioHealth policy on competitive bidding as well as the importance in establishing a competitive supplier environment
· Collaborate cross-functionally to optimize service and/or specifications
· Influence internal clients to adhere to policies, best practices, and work towards OhioHealth’s culture of spend optimization and standardization
