SALARY RANGE: $91,419.00 - $104,207.00 Annually

ELIGIBILITY: Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least six months. The decision of the Director of Human Resources with respect to acceptable minimum qualifications is final.
CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK: Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to this position identified as positions of trust will be required to authorize the release of and successfully complete a Fingerprint check.
PROBATION: All persons, including current City employees, selected from this position will be on probation for 6 months.
CLASS DESCRIPTION
A Community Health Nurse Supervisor I oversees nursing activities for community-based health programs. Work of this class involves supervising community health nurses, health aides and office support personnel.
Incumbents receive general supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek. Work is performed primarily in an office where there are no uncomfortable environmental conditions; however, incumbents are required to make visits to field sites where illness, disease or stressful situations may be encountered. Work requires minimal physical exertion.
SELECTION PROCESS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
On or before the date of filing the application, each candidate must:
EDUCATION: A bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.
AND
EXPERIENCE: Have four years of experience as a registered nurse, two of which must have been in community health nursing.
OR
NOTES (EQUIVALENCIES): A master's degree in nursing or a related field from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the experience requirement.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR CERTIFICATES: Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Maryland or registered nurse licensure from a Multi-State Licensure Compact participant state is required.
KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of nursing theory, process, practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of professional nursing standards.
- Knowledge of community health resources and agencies.
- Ability to plan, develop, implement and evaluate community health programs.
- Ability to supervise clinics and other organized patient care settings.
- Ability to develop and conduct in-service training programs.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with others.
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
- Supervisory ability.
