DUTIES: Contribute to a team responsible for building, operating, maintaining and deploying enterprise scale vCMTS (Virtual Cable Modem Termination Systems) to scale Comcast’s networks; perform network and system administration, including troubleshooting system hardware and software, and performing network routing, switching, configuration, and troubleshooting on Juniper and Arista networks; administer Linux systems, including analyzing Linux Syslogs and Kernel logs, conducting root cause analysis, and resolving system alerts; automate software configuration and provisioning servers and network device tasks using Ansible; use GIT to store code and create Pull requests; install and maintain Platform Points of Delivery (PODs); perform incident and problem management; develop automation scripts using Bash and Python; administer the vCMTS environment and microservices packaged in Docker and Kubernetes containers; deploy system environments for HP Enterprise (HPE) servers; implement changes, including deploying system and network upgrades, RMA, automation scripting, and regular system maintenance; work with the CI/CD pipeline to deploy changes; isolate and mitigate customer outages in a timely manner and resolve complex escalations; collaborate with development teams to mitigate incidents; patch break-fixes; identify service impacting trends and implement long term solutions; run system health checks; monitor system alarms; and create and track problem tickets.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field, and two (2) years of experience performing network and system administration, including troubleshooting system hardware and software, and performing network routing, switching, configuration, and troubleshooting on Juniper and Arista networks; of which one (1) year includes administering Linux systems, including analyzing Linux Syslogs and Kernel logs, conducting root cause analysis, and resolving system alerts; automating software configuration and provisioning servers and network device tasks using Ansible; using GIT to store code and create Pull requests; installing Platform Points of Delivery (PODs); performing incident and problem management; and developing automation scripts using Bash and Python.
