As a Modeling, Forecasting, and Economic Analysis Advisor at Southern California Edison (SCE), you will be instrumental in shaping a brighter future. This role involves championing procurement excellence by guiding the Market, Spend, Cost, and Supply Market Intelligence and Analytics efforts. These efforts support procurement teams in enhancing demand forecasting accuracy, bolstering sustainability, mitigating risks, securing favorable contracts, and comprehending spending trends and analyses. Such contributions are vital for informed decision-making, optimal supplier selection, increased profitability, and sustained competitiveness.
This position will strengthen the daily operational needs for Category strategy, market intelligence, and analytics, in addition to driving the ongoing improvement and advancement of Procurement processes and performance across all $6.9 billion in third-party expenditures. A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!
- Offer leadership, guidance, and support to team members and Procurement Category Managers in all facets of Market Intelligence, expenditure data, and category strategy development.
- Evaluate present and prospective Market Intelligence spend analytics tools, business processes, and technological suitability against external market trends and industry benchmarks. Incorporate strategies with technological solutions like Ariba, SAP, and similar platforms.
- Develop market intelligence projections and conduct thorough analyses of pricing validations of procurement categories, including weighted-should cost modeling for contract changes and updates. Perform historical and forecasted market index analyses, examine industry trends, identify key cost drivers, and apply relevant category management metrics. Use pre-built pricing models, adjusting them as necessary for each opportunity, and employ cost/commodity models to project historical and future trends.
- Develop and implement metrics to monitor the area of responsibility, identify gaps, and implement action plans for remediation. Understand and evaluate the strategic landscape of Procurement and how Market Intelligence, data, and analytics can influence the success of category management.
- Proficient in using a combination of business understanding, strong analytical and critical thinking skills, statistics, and programming/modeling knowledge to identify and communicate trends related to Procurement to develop and present findings and conclusions on pricing options, design, revenue recovery, benchmarking, and market outlooks.
- Establish the direction for compiling reports, charts, and tables based on organizational needs to measure business results.
The essentials
- Seven (7) or more years of experience with statistical, econometric, engineering, or financial modeling.
- Three (3) or more years of experience in a procurement environment.
- Effectively communicate and present complicated technical issues in a simple, logical, and succinct manner both orally and in written form.
- Experienced in developing presentations and presenting critical information to key decision makers and senior leaders across the company.
- Experienced in reporting, analytics and cost and budget analysis.
- Experienced with Word, Excel, Power Point, SAP (Ariba) and SharePoint ( Maintenance)
The preferred
- Bachelors degree in business, Technical or Operations Management, Administration, Economics, Public Policy, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience with regulatory proceedings, handling filings, GRC, other regulatory processes and Bureau of Labor Statistics data.
- Skilled in complex problem-solving and critical thinking.
- Proficient in developing project management plans that specify charter, scope, cost estimates, schedule, and target dates, and risk management plans.
- Ability to work well under time constraints, adapt to changing priorities, collaborate effectively in a team setting and operate with minimal supervision.
- Experience in constructing dashboard and performing data analysis.
- Experience with Power BI

- This positions work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
